I'll take your word on the TB. Not someone that bothers me though, if the cows are healthy. I only drink local milk, so the transport thing isn't an issue. And I live in a city.
Hmm, which analogy to use that we might be all aware of, regarding heavily prejudiced scare tactics and subsequent legislation against a natural product? Hehe.
TB is no joke, and the simple fact is unpasteurized milk left sitting at ambient temperatures for enough time will most likely culture it. We all gotta do a risk reward measure here. So in my mind talking pasteurization, you have the average 10% vitamin reduction of pasteurization and the loss of certain "probiotics" in a substance every other mammal on the planet stops drinking after infancy, vs TB, still a widespread global killer. Frankly in my book if you must have dairy, then pasteurization is the way to go unless you are literally standing next to the damn cow.

My mom spent a year in the hospital as a child because she got TB from unpasteurized milk so it's a valid safeguard in the case of dairy products.
The title of the thread might confuse some, so I'll just point that I do defecate. Daily. But I don't use commercial shampoo! And yes, I do wash my body with soap daily.
I got the idea of no 'poo from a Paleo group I'm in. The more I experience of this method and see the complete perversity of using commercial shampoo, the more I'm convinced that its a positive step.
We've only been using commercial shampoo since the 30s, believe it or not. So all the heads of hair prior to this were dishevelled, dirty and smelly? No! Once you've gone through 'transition' from commercial crap with sulfates and other toxic chemicals, which can last anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple of months, you'll have clean hair, more manageable and styleable than ever. And you'll save money!
I say that using CS is perverse, let me explain: when you shampoo your hair, you are effectively stripping your locks - with detergent - of the precious natural oils produced by the sebaceous glands in your scalp - namely 'Sebum'. And then adding fake oils with conditioner! Ha!
You CAN with 'no 'poo', however, wash your hair (but with a tbsp of bicarb in a cup of water, followed by a rinse, then a tbsp of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water and rinse - but any vinegar will do, it rebalances your ph and conditions your hair). With this method, which should be used no more than every 3 days (I do it once a week) you keep the sebum. But you have to get used to your hair not smelling like a French whorehouse, and there is no lather. At all.
If you plan on going no 'poo, a 'boar bristle brush' is pretty much compulsory, for when your hair is dry. This will distribute your sebum throughout your bonce, from root to tip. This is the one I use, and the stiffest gents bristle without spending £150 on 'Indian Bristle' - KENT gents stiff bristle - OC2
On the days I don't use the BS/ACV rinse, I do what's called a 'water only' (WO) wash on my hair, which is just that :-)
Here's to happy hair!

Sorry Vulpeski, it had to be done.

Maybe, but there is something to be said for pasteurization as well. Personally I tend to avoid dairy. No I am not lactose intolerant but I do feel better with less dairy. I rarely if ever drink milk in anyway anymore. Probably my biggest dairy intake is the occasional yogurt.

Crullers, I'm sorry your Mum had to go through that :-(.
Thanks, fortunately she lived through it and just celebrated her 69th birthday yesterday and is in good health. Many in that day and age who suffered from tuberculosis weren't so fortunate. My post may have come across as a bit terse as I was at work and couldn't give it the time required to get my point of view across effectively. I wholeheartedly agree with you in regard to trying to practice a paleo/ketogenic lifestyle. Many modernizations applied to diet have caused health problems to the general public but I'm convinced that pasteurization of dairy products is an exception to the rule. And thanks to this post I'm thinking about going poo-free

Ken, I think we'll have to agree to differ.
Not sure what to differ on, there were only facts not opinions, TB is more dangerous than slightly less nutrient dense milk and it will easily grow in unpasteurized milk.
Any other thought on the matter is really just deluding yourself...

The no poo thing works surprisingly well. In the end though different hair types might need to make different adjustments.

Personally, I don't drink cow's milk... Never cared for it (even as a little one).............. Mixed with chocolate or made into summit (e.g. ice cream) is another story...
These are the milks I drink.............

I always liked almond milk. Otherwise the most dairy I have is the incidental cheese in a recipe and the occasional yogurt.
Yeah, almond milk is another good one. I was drinking soy and almond for awhile before I switched over to hemp and hazelnut.

Ken,
I edited this post, I don't want to be negative. I respect what you say, but don't want to argue any more :-)
I haven't used 'poo or body wash in about 12 months. I do wash my hands and use deodorant, still. It's weird that my BO has actually gotten BETTER during this time. I too, am pretty paleo/primal in my eating. First heard of this from reading freetheanimal.com
