I would love to try this and actually use to only use shampoo about twice a week. Then I got terrible dandruff. Now I have to use a "medicated" shampoo about every other day or it returns. So how do people handle the dandruff or in my case I'm pretty sure it was psoriases.

Some say the lack of the shampoos reduces scalp drying. But with a condition like psoriasis I think your doctor or dermatologist would be better council than us snus junkies...

It's absolutely right that if you have a medical condition you should see a doctor, but... people get dandruff when using shampoo (and certainly in transition) in the same way that people are lactose intolerant of processed (pasteurised) milk. (Raw milk contains lactase, which digests the milk sugar for you)

Natural is the way. And if all else fails, rub whalen on the ear.

Milk is a bad example of natural. We are the only species on the planet that can drink milk after weening. And we had to evolve into doing that. This is why people of European decent have the least incidents of lactose intolerance, they were the first to domesticate cattle and harvest dairy products.

Fair point, Ken. I meant 'unprocessed'/in the raw is better, I guess.

Maybe, but there is something to be said for pasteurization as well. Personally I tend to avoid dairy. No I am not lactose intolerant but I do feel better with less dairy. I rarely if ever drink milk in anyway anymore. Probably my biggest dairy intake is the occasional yogurt.

My cat has dandruff and I know for a fact it's not because of shampoo. Any attempts to actually shampoo her would result in murder. Brushing does the trick.

As for "natural" vs "chemical", it's not clear-cut at all. The only thing you can say for sure is that commercial shampoos, soaps etc. promise a lot of things that they pretty much never deliver on. That said, I have in the past used anti-dandruff shampoo that DID reduce dandruff (Head&Shoulders), though I'm bald now, so that's that dealt with.

I'm sorry, Ken, but I don't agree. The whole point of pasteurisation, originally, was that milk could be stored and distributed in shitty conditions and still be drinkable. Pasteurisation turns a live food (helpful enzymes and beneficial bacteria) into a dead, processed food. Minerals are poorly absorbed, intolerances arise, and you are FAR more likely to get VERY ill from drinking pasteurised. For example, there hasn't been a single case of salmonella reported from drinking straight from the cow, whereas there has been a plethora from drinking PM. Yes, it takes your gut a while to adjust to so much good stuff, I started out with 1/2 a cup a day. I now drink a pint a day, half of which is in the form of raw milk kefir (a homemade probiotic yoghurt)

Pasteurised milk is bang out of date, and if you can find a good source of raw from local pastured cows, its perfectly healthy and you'll be doing your body a favour (over PM).

Now tobacco, on the other hand...

Raw milk is a growth medium for TB. If milk has to be transported a distance to say an urban center it must be pasteurized and there are many cases from back in the early 1900's of people dying from TB contracted from unpasteurized milk.

I'll take your word on the TB. Not someone that bothers me though, if the cows are healthy. I only drink local milk, so the transport thing isn't an issue. And I live in a city.

Hmm, which analogy to use that we might be all aware of, regarding heavily prejudiced scare tactics and subsequent legislation against a natural product? Hehe.
