AHAHAHA...I too have been trying to do this all day. I can do it, but I'm not getting the harmonics. Guess I should watch the tutorials tonight, my wife thinks I'm insane, lol

When you guys get really good at it, go to a train station, and do the really deep one while you drive past the platform with your windows down. Enjoy the confused looks from all the commuters.

We could form a SnusOn throat singing choir. It would be magnificent :^D

Here's a bit of an NPR show with my hero Billy West.

If you don't care about the other stuff, skip to around the 17:30 minute mark. Billy West has this Tuvan thing down too.

A really great way to practice the harmonics without having to learn the throat technique of getting the low sound is with an electric toothbrush. I promise if you find the sweet spot in your mouth that can set the harmonics off - you'll be whistling amazing grace for about 30 minutes and your teeth will end up very clean as a bonus!

Nice to see some other people digging the throat singing - I thought I was weird.

BTW - while they are both incredibly high-skill traditions - the Inuit and Mongolian types of throat singing are very much unrelated although I love them both for their taking the limits of sound making with the human body to it's extremes.

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!

I am beginning to wonder if some of us have way too much free time on our hands?

                  I also don't have s a lot of free time.....I just practice everywhere like I don't give a flock......cause I don't.

The kids like Huun Hur Tu....that is a plus.

You're rad Monkey. Yesterday on my way to work I employed enough momentary control over the harmonic tones to work out half of Mary Had a Little Lamb. I was thinking I was slightly badass for just a minute there. I think I'm working on some polyps... Chicks dig 'em though.

I am still working on getting the sound from my chest as opposed to my throat to crate louder harmonics. I was recording myself and the harmonics are super faint. I find that the variation in the pitch of the note droned changes the ease of the harmonics slightly for me.

I just raided the library for all of the books on chanting and a voice book to do some research. Surprisingly(or not) there is very little information on this type of singing out there. I had to show a video to the librarian that was helping me search out books. She wanted me....
