In all seriousness, I do have to take exception to this. Having been born, raised and spent most of my life here, I can say that the majority of Southern men are not "sacks o' shit." I certainly don't consider myself to be that way and I've never, ever raised a hand to any woman. I don't really think I'm an exception to the rule either. Now, depending on where you are in Western NC, it may still hold true for your area. Some spots in the mountains always did seem more backwards to me.

Agreed, what I said was an over dramatization and heavily laden with personal opinion. I live in the straight up mountains. Half of the grownups I know didn't have indoor bathrooms until 40 was built.

Of course there are decent people here, but compared to Raleigh or other major cities, it's the hicks and sticks. I grew up in large metro areas, and to me, this is a very strange place.

I will say though that until I drove the 3rd woman you know to a crisis shelter in as many months, I thought everything was pretty normal here.

Asians all the way man. Im married to one, their culture is more about family whereas in our culture its about fem power and emulating paris hilton. They will make better mothers, better wives, and generally be more willing to stick it out than american chicks.

I learned early on that I was only interested in foreign women, namely European although I did date women from Eastern Europe. I think the lifestyle in those countries and the values are just a bit better for me. American women place less importance on family, work ethic, etc. and for me it took effort to maintain an American woman. The European women seemed to take no effort at all and I think it's because they understand the more traditional roles of family and simply how to treat people. I married Irish. It's been great to me.

Now this mail order business. Woah. I guess it's no different than an arranged marriage and there are millions of people that still live that lifestyle so it can't be that bad. I give you credit though...I couldn't do it. There was a post about the cost of a wife versus the cost of someone that you pay to service things that a wife would traditionally do. It made me laugh and I thought about that when I got into reading this thread. There's just something about wanting and pursuing that I think I'd need to have. Plus you kinda want to get to know her family I'd think. I'd be scared for the first five years or maybe more. I mean if she has kids for you, and I understand you already have one, the way she handles the children will be very important and you'd better know how that'll go. What if years down the road you learn that she's a real **** 'cos her father beat her with sugar cane or some shit? (That's another great thing about the Irish...that c-word doesn't effect them nearly as much as it does the American women.) At any rate, I'd be wicked curious to hear more about the experience. It takes balls man.
