I am new to snus, nearing close to a month of consistent usage, therefore i dont think I have a favorite, but the first 2 weeks ive tried about 20 different varietys (went a little crazy on my ordering). of which 14 or so are in the freezer either to never be used again cause i know i will never like, or potentially given another shot on a future date. I also invested in 3 cans of los and a icetool (dont like it, like moving the tobacco around) I am not very big on flavors, nor do i ever seeing my self needing more than 8-9mg of nic per portion

Heres my top 5 in no particular order yet.. still trying to find my favorite every day snus, dont know if i ever will, for now i will rotate this variety throughout the day:

3. Jakobssons OP
4. Skruf OP
5. Roda Lackett (White)
6. Grov OP (really want to like this, not sure if i do yet, but will keep trying. for now i will keep trying

Gooser - you obviously have similar tastes to me - an eye for quality and a real love of the traditional type flavours.

Not really a review I would call this more an experience, just jotting down my thoughts as a 1st time snus user. Here are my impressions of the 1st 5 ones I have tried:

Smelling snus for the 1st time wasnt how I expected.
They all smelt unpleasant to me, some smelt more like

their flavours other more like nicotine, even as a smoker I do not like the smell of nicotine.

I have decided to start with skruf xtra stark white

portions. I find the smell like herb/mint with a little

nicotine, the flavour is Rose Oil.


trying Snus for the 1st time it felt a lot more

intrusive than I thought I also find the shape of the

portion is not ideal as it is overlapping my teeth.


The Skruf flavour I would describe as mild, at the

start I could not taste anything then there was a

slight burn, 5 mins in I can taste the rose oil more.

Almost 20 minutes in and my nicotine levels feel a bit

higher than at the beginning, this xtra stark stuff

isnt as strong as I thought it would be, apparently its

only going to last for the next 20 minutes so I am

disapointed with strength.

Flavour wise it is very acceptable to me, I would

describe it as mild and salty with a bit of a mint/herb

taste, it tastes similar to how it smells.

Almost 25mins in and levels are still rising.

The salt is really starting to become noticeable on my

lips, I think this has too much salt, I am also

starting to notice drip 30mins in, the rose oil flavour

is still very mild.


35mins in and I finally do not feel like a cigarette!

But its also when the portion started dripping.

Odens Extrea Stark LOS

I handbaked a small portion originally intended for a

non smoking friend to try. I decided to try it myself.
I am pleased with how comfortable it sits in my mouth

although it left a sticky residue on my fingers.

Putting it in at 1st I cant taste anything and I like

that.

I dont know if it was just my mood or whatever but it

felt like it had a better buzz than Skruf xtra stark

white portion.

I only tasted it once I spat it out 30 mins later and

it had a very neutral salty tobacco flavour. I really

cant fault it.

Odens Extreme Original

It has a very strong spicy smell which makes it hard to

imagine it is unflavoured or wont have any taste for

me.

I handbaked a large amount, more than what seemed like

was in the white portions. I have high expectations in

terms of buzz here.
There is a bit of burning and nicotine levels are

definetly rising faster than previously because it is a

lot more spread out on my gums.

I still cant taste anything

I had to take it out after 20mins because it was

becoming too strong.
It tasted very spicy.

Odens Extreme wintergreen

I have never tasted anything wintergreen before, this

is up until now the most unpleasant smelling snus.
5mins in and I can not taste anything!!
10mins in I can sense the creamyness of the flavour,

there is still burning also, I find it good.
I recomend this flavour. It is extremely subtle, not

minty at all, just a creamy sensation, I dont know what

food or drink it will go with however, perhaps dessert

and icecream.

Odens extreme cola

I could smell this before it was even opened.
It is a cheap cola smell, like a no name brand cola

product rather than a coke or pepsie cola.
There was a lot of drip with this, I am sorely

disapointed the cola flavour is bad and I love

cola.

Taboca
Smells better than skruf, unfortunetly I did not like

the bitter drip, I found out this is due to the citrus.
If you like bitter tastes this is worth a try.

Captain Yankee

This stuff smells awesome, the smell is sweet with the

aroma of fruits like a mix of banana, berries and

watermelon, reminds me of candy or bubblegum.
however the real flavour is cherry, wintergreen and cinnamon.
The sweet taste in my mouth is a good change from the

usual saltyness although sweetness is not something I

could stand all day.
This snus has a very strong flavour.

I feel like Offroad is completely overlooked as a snus, V2 (in my opinion) make some amazing loose snus, and do do more then just Thunder... Give them a try if you haven't boys!!

Honorable mention: Skruf Tranbar - a new find, normally don't like flavors but I really like this

I posted my top 5 some months ago, I definetly have to change it.

1. Jackobsson's Classic Strong - This is now the base in my rotation. I love the sweet flavor, the honey notes. It's a bit different from other classic snus, probably the purists won't agree with me, but I really love it.
2. Islay Whisky Snus - first, I love whisky. Then, I really like the way this snus is made. I love the smell, the perfect balance of salt, the tobacco flavor that can be detected without being overwhelming.
3. Goteborg Rapé White Portion - I have to admit that I had only one can of this Snus, living in EU and being very hard to find it. I found it the best snus ever, but having tried only one can I can't say it's my favorite. Sometimes, taste changes after some cans. I really hope I'll find a way to get some more
4. General Classic White Portion - as above, but for this one I had the luck of having several cans. I like it very much - much more than the OP one, I found the taste much more subtle and nice.
5. Oden's Cold - it was hard to pick the fifth one. I chosed Oden's Cold because I love mint, and this is definitely the best one among those I've tried. Taste is perfect, and I love the tingling sensation on my gums.

Special mention: Offroad Lakrits White Portion - I really love the liquorice and this is, at the moment, the best lakrits snus I've found. Taste is perfect, but I find the snus too salty and portions are a bit too empty. I'm still looking for the perfect lakrits snus
