Washington State Bill to outlaw all Flavored and Portioned Snus

Oh yeah I saw this in the Seattle Times recently. I guess I didn't take it very seriously because I'd forgotten about it. I tend to doubt it will pass. ****ing nannies, I mean seriously... I can buy an AR-15, a bottle of Everclear, a set of throwing knives, a party-pack of glazed donuts, a tank of nitrous, a couple strap-ons and some midget porn and they want to take away my right to buy a can of General? Or more accurately, Camel SNUS? Give me a break, Olympia.

I expect that in the near future it will be easier to purchase a firearm at walmart than to find affordable snus in America.

This law is BULLSHIT. PACT was bad enough. I'm not even in WA and i am pissed. I am tired of all of this bullshit. The government is trying to step in where parents are failing. **** the kids. If they start smoking blame and penalize the parents. If my kid gets caught trying to buy a pack of smokes underage I deserve to be fined. Don't punish the rest of us because parents aren't doing their jobs.

You would think. WA has a huge deficit, they are laying off police officers and firemen because they can't afford to pay them. WA took in like 600 million in tobacco taxes last year and yet they are doing everything they can to eliminate that revenue stream. Unbelievable idiots.

Well they have to carry out their agenda first, which is to remove all tobacco and nicotine. Once that finally happens (and it will) then they will decide what "the children" are being harmed by and go after that next. Why they don't go after things children are "really" being harmed by, like abuse, neglect, bullying, on-and-on, is beyond me... oh wait, that's right... it's because they actually don't give a f*** about "the children". Sorry, I keep forgetting.

The pipe and cigar people will either get this bill killed or have their products exempted. Thanks to the horror photos of mouth cancer and popularity of dip among rural teenagers there aren't too many people willing to stand up for smokeless tobacco.

You do realize that pipes and cigars have a higher oral cancer rate than smokeless, and I'm talking about chew and dip not snus which has no connection to any oral cancer. But I digress. There is a thread about this at ECF and Bill Godshall left a few comments.

Even though I have in the past leaned to the left politically it is always the liberal states that pass the most restrictive tobacco laws. I would doubt any state with a more conservative legislature would pass this type of law. I assume WA has a liberal democratic legislature.

Live in one myself. There is no end to how these people want to control anything fun and then tax everything to the max.
I imagine it is the same way in the southern states with all the Christian Conservative types.
