              That looks awesome.

How do you keep grass from getting mixed in with your soil when you mow?

                  Snusdog,
I was trying to reconstruct the timeline

                  04/04 - Bought Jiffy pot
05/08 - Transplanted into styrofoam cups
05/27 - Started transplanting into the garden

                  myuserid,
I've got one of those old fashioned reel mowers, the yard isn't that big.

Even though I used some Ortho I still ended up with those pests.
I'm not sure what the top one is but the bottom one is a tobacco hornworm.

                  http://www.forestryimages.org/browse...imgnum=1402126

"Description:Tobacco and tomato hornworms [Manduca sexta (Linnaeus), Manduca quinquemaculata (Hawthorn)]: These two species, usually referred to collectively as "hornworms," are potentially the most destructive insect pests of tobacco. Newly hatched larvae are ¼ inch long, pale green with a large horn at the posterior end. Larger larvae (up to 3 or 4 inches) are bright green in color. Tobacco hornworm larvae have seven white diagonal stripes on each side and a curved red horn. Tomato hornworms have eight white V-shaped marks on each side and the horn is straighter and blue-black. Small larvae chew small irregular holes in leaves. Larger larvae more often feed on leaf margins and may leave only the midribs of leaves.

I'm going to buy some Dipel aka Thuricide.
For use on Tobacco and Tomatoes
Non toxic to humans but it's an organic bacteria that will eat most leaf eating worms from the inside out.

Wow this is impressive, nice little plot you got JT. Also, aren't you glad your not a pest? Think about it, your just going about your day going to eat a meal, and suddenly some higher being has poisoned you and you find yourself being eating from the inside out? I wish I had land so I could plan something, it would be nice to have a PACT contingency plan like some of you do.

What is there to say...those are some of the most beautiful plants I have ever seen! Your yards looks like mine...well not the plants, but the soil & grass! I only put 3 plants in the ground and I couldn't even manage to put those in a straight, evenly spaced line! hahaha!

Yah, it is a lot harder to plant heroin poppies than tobacco from what I hear.

Those pests can plant their own damn plants if they're hungry. No free loaders allowed.

Your babies look good too. Good luck with them. You should have seen the yard when I started, that compost pile in the third pic is all crap that got raked out plus a hell of a lot of weeds. None of the stuff from the tobacco patch is in that pile. That got burned. I bought some bermudagrass seed and the yard should show some improvement along with the tobacco in future update pics.
