No problem, man. It's what we do here.

When Snusdog gets into to this thread (which I'm fairly sure he will), he's really the dude with the knowledge when it comes to snus v. dip. I never really dipped much. Most of what I've learned on the subject came from people on this forum like Snusdog, among others.

I won't believe in this "added crap" until somebody proves me otherwise. While I won't fight tooth and nail about whether its actually true or not either.

I think you mean the loose leaf chewing tobacco like RedMan and Beachnut. Thats really loose cut tobacco that has been sugared and sweetened. The spit you get from that is just the sweetener and such separating from the tobacco as you chew it. You can either crunch down on it or roll a wad up and stuff it between you teeth and cheek.

        I don't believe it either.

Swedish Match has a list of composite ingredients for their dip.

        http://www.swedishmatch.com/en/Our-b...omposite-list/

The only thing that stands out:
Methyl salicylate, Ethyl salicylate, Salicylic acid
The first 2 are flavors, salicylates and salicylic acid are related to aspirin

Oh yeah, they make TimberWolf and Redman chew. A simple google search and wiki shows those ingredients to be, well just like any other synthetic and natural ingredient with both positive, negative and multi-use effects. (the ones you mentioned Justin look like they're Wintergreeny type ingredients) The ingredients provided by Swedish Match are a good template for other brands as well. Hell even the snus section has a helluva lot more that I expected. Flavorings and other additives that while doing random searches shows that hey some of the same stuff even in snus is in cigarettes as well.

*Rushes to look at Anti-Tobacco sites that mention ingredients as well to see if there is- OMG STUFF THAT KILLS IN CIGARETTES IS IN SNUS AS WELL AS HORRIBLE MIND NUMBING AND HUMAN KILLING FLAVORINGS!!!! WE MUST ABANDON ALL SNUS USAGE THIS ONCE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!*

EDIT: I was being sarcastic. But sarcasm aside don't use snus while in a honey bee farm. Because it has Isoamyl acetate and I guess it attracts the- OH GOD BEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'S *swats at the air* LEAD THE CHILDREN TO SAFETY FORGET ABOUT ME I'M ALREADY DEAD!

Just remember those are composite lists. You could have 45 products and if that ingredient shows up in just one product it makes the list.

Another thing that makes the lists look more complicated they are, is they'll take an ingredient like bergamot (which you won't find in the snus list) and break it down into its constituents. I think they did the same with smoke flavoring. It makes it much harder for their competitors to reverse engineer their products. 8)

              regardless

How are you going to reverse engineer a fruit?

Salicylic acid is the active ingredient in many skin care products such as acne treatments and anti-dandruff shampoos.

'Spit Tobacco' is largely a derogatory term applied to smokeless tobacco in general by the Anti-Tobacco Bolshevist Crusade. It makes it sound more gross, and gives them another way to alienate tobacco and its users.

I dont like the anti-tobacco lobby either, but i think spit-tobacco is a "natural born" name for a tobacco that makes u wanna spit.

Anyone here tried to dip any of the European, or Indian snuffs? Just curious. I might try it.

I dipped south african taxi snuff, tasted a bit like ettan.

I dipped frybourg and treyer high dry toast, it was not sweet enough.

I prefer dippin american scotch snuff over english snuff.

I dipped some Taxi Menthol, and it gave a nic hit, but was rather nasty in the mouth. I also dipped some Dholakia Sparrow, which was OK, but more bland than the Scotches.
