Everybody: Give Northerner/new GetSnus a break

Hear me out. So, your favorite US-based snus vendor went tits up. Mine too. They had great customer service and awesome shipping rates and freebies. Now they are no longer. A well-established, old-school vendor was offered to take the reigns, and they said yes.

What're you going to do now? Keep bitching about how things aren't the same? Consider this. The takeover of GetSnus happened fast. Real fast. Y'all are going to have to give them space to adjust to the new curve. Can you imagine how busy they are with all of the order snafus? I am not posting this to defend Northerner, just to offer a perspective that might help you understand. You're ordering a foreign product that is manufactured farther from your home than most ever wish to travel. If you email them, and their English leaves a bit to be desired, it's because they are Swedish. Give them a break. They are doing their very best to make sure you knuckleheads can still get your snus, and the transition will only get smoother. Dealing with Northerner directly is a pleasure, and soon enough, the customer service they are known for will extend to their new GetSnus venture, but with the volume of inquires they are receiving, you can't expect it overnight.

I have no ulterior motive in writing this, I too am waiting on an order I placed 10 days ago, and I too am waiting for a response to an inquiry I submitted. Point is, what are you going to do? You went into this snus thing knowing you're getting a product from far, far away, and knowing you're lucky to have even stumbled upon it. At least it's not a Cohiba. Don't mean to rant too much here, I guess I'm just tired of people smearing their name because the last-minute buyout of GetSnus wasn't perfectly seamless. Just remember where your product comes from, how lucky you are to even know about it and have access to it, and thank these guys for their many efforts to make it available. And stock up next time, don't be a douche and wait until you have 15 portions left to place an order.

I'm not trying to get on anyone's case personally, just saying, what they are doing is harder than it looks. If you don't agree, step up and sell me some snus.

I'm right with ya, but only because I stocked up months ago. People need their nicotine man, and when they dont get it, shit goes down.

That shit primarily consists of bitching.

Seriously though, I don't trust the Northerner, in the same way that I don't trust any business that deals in addiction, but I certainly hope they don't go anywhere.

My thinking is that if getsnus had such fantastic service why didn't they tell their customers that they were changing ownership and make sure that the existing orders were taken care of? Would getsnus even be around at all if Northerner did not buy them? I also want to know if getsnus management combed the snus forums to respond to any legitimate complaints the way Frank and Fredrik have with us? I liked to order from getsnus from time to time but if they had to go out, I am sure glad that Northerner bought them. Yes, they had cheap tobacco and even cheaper shipping but could that be one of the reasons they didn't stay in business? I think the best thing to do at this point is to make sure you have a roll of your favorite snus in the freezer to cover any shipping delays.

Yeah, it's all pointless to bitch openly about it guys. It is getting old. I mean we all know the story. Give it a rest. And like roo said never ever wait till you are down to a few days left of product, cuz then you are the only one to blame that you don't have enough snus. Or you could always go by some Marlboro or Camel. No really, I was down to very little last time I ordered and used copenhagen for a few days. No biggie, I still got my lip.

Sorry not all of us have enough money to spend 1,000$ to buy a years worth of snus. Untill we strike gold we are stuck as douchebags.

I understand not bitching about getsnus, because it was a quick takeover, but I have never seen a company transition be so messy. My company just got bought out last second too and it's nothing like this. The company has basically stopped running. My complain isn't with getsnus, that's to be expected, it's that they have abandoned their Northerner site as well in all this madness. They have shit on backorder yet don't tell you, so after your shipment hasn't shipped after days you start wondering where the hell it's at. Then you find out it's on backorder. They should have said that upfront so we could take our business elsewhere. Why charge someone 20$ for next day shipping when they don't plan to ship it for 2 weeks? Just seems like a bad business model.

GetSnus had great customer service. Nobody bitched on the forums because they did not have to. What does it matter that Northerner bought them. They provide the same service anyway.

I am supposed to give Northerner a break because they are busy and the product comes from overseas? What? They run a business. That is it. Do it right. Need native English speakers? Hire them. It does not matter as they will not speak to you anyway. They are busy? Hire help. Tough transition? Welcome to business. Product comes from far away? So does half of everything else you buy.

C'mon sgreger, I know what you're saying, but you too have used snus for a considerable amount of time. Like Bigblue1 said, who do you have to blame but yourself when you run out? This shit can't be purchased at the store, so you gotta plan a little. I'm not rich either man, not by a longshot, but lately I've learned to order every other paycheck. Still waitin on that last one, and I ordered the day before the buyout. If GetSnus was still GetSnus, I'd be all over their shit about that order, but I'm allowing some leeway because I have a very limited understanding of how difficult it must be to manage orders/inventory at this time.

Back to my original point. Whatcha gonna do? You want snus? Buy it from where you can. That vendor is no longer in service? Deal with it. I understand all of the complaints, they are all valid, but shit, this is not beer we are talking about. It's a specialty item.

I have to admit that I would go nuts if I was completely out of snus. I might even resort to buying a few tins of Camel Frost at the nearest gas station just to make it through to my next delivery but I hope it never comes down to that.

The vendor IS still in service; and bad service at that. Do you work for these guys?

I agree with you Roo. I posted about my GetSnus experience in one of the other threads, and while it wasn't some sublime experience, it wasn't bad. To be honest, I've had far worse online shopping experiences for far more mundane purchases.

Let's be realistic here, Northerner had a lot of suddenly misplaced back-orders to track down and fill after the buyout/merger/whatever. GetSnus closed up shop with no warning even on it's own forums, as far as I understand. This left Northerner holding the bag on all those old orders. I'll be honest, I'm not at all surprised that an order placed just after the buyout (like mine) might be delayed in going out, since they're still trying to track down and ship older orders, that they didn't take I might add.

As to adding additional help, that might not be the wisest move, since more people are placing stock up orders to tide them over until the dust from the PACT Act settles. What is Northerner/GetSnus supposed to do with all those new hires when sales stagnate in a month? I see a lot more hate arising from headlines about northerner laying off 50 people, then a couple of weeks of slow(er) shipping.

Just my take on the situation.

                              Pat
