In this new age concepts like free market competition are quickly going extinct. Legislation like PACT pisses me off on so many levels it's hard to wrap my head around it. The fact they are using the "save the kids" meme to introduce legislation damaging to businesses (small biz) in the middle of a recession, all while trying to stamp out the fire of harm reduction techniques is beyond me.

That sucks that he has to close. I don't understand why he would have to file a state income tax return for every state, however. He is giving them revenue, not receiving any. He has no physical presence in those states and would have no income to declare.Originally posted by sgreger1Okay so I talked to Jonathon. His accountant ran the numbers and it's just not profitable anymore for the following reason:
Jonathon would be required to file a state income tax return for every state they ship to and do it every quarter. So potentially they would have to file 50 tax returns each quarter and also report to 4 different agencies. The TTB the USDA the FDA and the BOE. All of which require monthly reporting as well on every item they sell...

You are using too much logic my friend. They are creating imaginary reasons to fill out additional and unnecessary paperwork. The purpose of this bill was not to help distributors, but to make it harder for them.
I don't know the details but his accountant did the numbers and read into the PACT legislation and they came to the conclusion that it would just no longer be profitable. If he could still make a profit I would assume he and others closing up shop would just continue doing business. I am really bummed about this, and I hope others don't close as well.

There are 1000s of small businesses that where for this legislation. Brick and Mortar stores have a higher overhead and have to pay taxes so from their point of view people like Jonathan had an unfair business advantage.
I know for Jonathan and for us it sucks but for a lot of small businesses this legislation was very much a pro small business bill.

I think that's fair. I could see why brick and mortar places would be in favor of this, because it stifles competition from online stores, something which I think is a crappy idea, but that's just me.
Taking out a certain type of small business to help other small businesses isn't exactly a small business friendly bill, but at least not everyone loses.

Darn, someone just had to go and be reasonable.
So here's hoping all those B&M's that got the fair side of the deal begin to carry something other than the Camel and Marlboro brands.

But I think the new America wants everyone unemployed, poor, on welfare, and smoking.
Well with 47% of US Citizens not paying any federal income taxes, and with an increased push for entitlement programs that millions upon millions are already on, I think getting cancer from smoking is the least of our problems.

Very sad to see this news. Just placed an order. I have really enjoyed dealing with ClubSnus and just knowing there was a wharehouse full of snus close by was a good feeling. Jonathan even offered to let me come pick up my orders in person if I wanted but I never took him up on that. I wish him luck in all future endeavors.

This sucks. I mean, I've only been snusing for a month or two, but all of my orders have been from clubsnus, and I was planning on being a customer their as long as I continued snusing. Damn the government, I don't care which side of the aisle they happen to sit in.
