Jonathon made two mistakes
1. He spent too much time trying to promote his business on other websites while neglecting his own website.
2. He failed to plan for PACT, something that we all assumed was going to happen.
I am sorry to see him go but not surprised.

I believe that's how it works.Originally posted by ville123I'm thinking of ordering two rolls worth of snus. When he is doing the 5 free cans on the two rolls, it says with 8 cans, you get 2 free (on a single roll). So does that mean I only have to order 16 cans to get the 5 can discount?

I think there was misunderstanding on last night. When you first posted the discount, there where no any kind of info about it in Clubsnus site. And when you didn't provide link the promo (even PP asked) mods removed topic.Originally posted by truthwolf1I posted yesterday about some discounts they were offering and that he might be closing but the mods here dont want any SnusOn members to know about it because they deleted both posts.
Jonathon actions (spam, trouble making behind the scenes, three accounts, letting private email go to public) has made us little bit of sceptical, that's all Sorry about this.
R.I.P Clubsnus.

Okay so I talked to Jonathon. His accountant ran the numbers and it's just not profitable anymore for the following reason:
Jonathon would be required to file a state income tax return for every state they ship to and do it every quarter. So potentially they would have to file 50 tax returns each quarter and also report to 4 different agencies. The TTB the USDA the FDA and the BOE. All of which require monthly reporting as well on every item they sell. Jonathon is running this out of his house with one other guy and he has a regular dayjob too, so this much paperwork, plus new taxes that are going to be levied make it to where he only makes a couple cents off each can, so not worth it.
The government manages to stifle yet another small business trying to be competitive and provide excelent customer service. Sigh.

Yah, not so much Justin. He has a webmaster that does his site, and obviousely he had to spend time advertising in a grassroots way, so it makes sense he was on forums promoting his site.
He did prepare for pact, but the numbers just don't add up. For a small operation like his, there is way too much paperwork and new regulations for him to handle while also working a day job, add in the new taxes and he would only be making a few cents a can. Just not profitable, nothing more.
The larger companies that have the staff to file the necessary paperwork each quarter shouldn't be too affected by this though.

That point was made several times months ago as to it's being one of the more basic problems with the PACT Act. The additional paperwork and regulations would force the small independents out.
Hmmmm, isn't the small business the "backbone" of American commerce according to the political talking-heads......
sgreger, any chance Jonathon made mention of what he'd be up to next, after the ashes from clubsnus settle? Certainly hope the best for him!

According to the Department of Labor:
The nation’s 17 million small, non-farm businesses constituted 99.7 per cent of all employers, employed 52 percent of private workforce and accounted for 51 percent of the nation’s sales.
And a diverse amount of businesses offering the same products tends to drive down price (competition) and increase service in areas like customer service etc. The more pople that are fighting over your money, the better it is for the consumer. This is not "talking heads" it's just how it works, and is also why we don't like monopolies in America. Look at Microsoft, their product is crap and freeware operating systems work better than it does, and up untill Mac's recent re-inventing itself, Microsoft had a defacto Monopoly for years. This is bad.
As for Jonathon, I think he's just throwing in the towel. Like always with legislation like this, the better established distributors will have the upper hand here since they already have the facilities and staff to handle the increased amount of red tape.
Sad to see him go, no other distributor has provided me with what he has.

You're singing to the choir sgreger.
My talking heads reference was intended in a sarcastic mien. Directed at the folks who campaign on promises of support of the small business and then promptly enact such as PACT and drive em' out!
