My order shipped last monday and it's not here so far. Sigh...can't wait to pay $130 in taxes. Better than cigarettes though.
I'm sure if we all put our heads together we could find the reasons some orders get through and some don't. Is it label size? # of cans in an order? Website? Incompetent CBSA people? Let's figure this out guys! I want tax free snus!
I know personally one order got through with only 5 cans in a yellow bubble envelope because you couldn't tell there was anything inside of it.There were no indentations from the cans on the envelope. The other had 6 cans in it and you could see the outline of the cans. Maybe getting them sent in a box will help??
How does Northerner ship orders (10cans+)? DO they split them up? Send it all in one envelope or in a box? ?
Got my order today. $115 on 13 cans. Not too bad. Certainly better than $70 on 6 cans. And much cheaper than smoking still. The Northerner order came in a box with all 13 cans. The customs sticker was about as big as a postage stamp, I honestly have no idea how the hell they got it. My name and address must be on their list.
So far I have tried Nick and Johnny Strong and Onyx. Liked the N&J. LOVE the Onyx. Gonna crack a gotlandsnus flader and ettan later tonight, and have 4 cans going at once.
I'm going to guess and test a bunch with future orders. I'm gonna try Northerner, getsnus and buysnus all with varying packages of 3 4 and 5 cans each and see how successful they are, and then I'll post back. It seems to me like you're gonna get dinged at least once in a while and you want to cost per can to be lowest, so whether either small orders getting through or large orders getting taxed less is better is what I intend to find out.
Just got my order of 4 cans from snuscentral, 1 week delivery and no tax. I'm going to stick with 4 can orders and hopefully they just let them pass though. I'm putting an other order in today.
I have gotten taxed in 4 tin orders before. Its random, it really is.
But 4 tin orders is the best way to order though, if you do get taxed, its not gonna break the bank that bad

That's my thought on it. At $80 a 5 tin roll for skoal or cope, I'm up 10g at 1/4 of the price if the tax man doen't get his fingers in there. Everytime I don't get taxed, I'm up an other $60.
I've had better luck ordering from BuySnus. They always split orders into 5 can packages, and usually half of them slip through. Northerner used to split orders, but didn't on my last one and I got dinged pretty hard. I just placed a 40 can order with them and I'm hoping they didn't chuck it all in one big box or I'm gonna be in for a painful trip to the post office, hahah.
All in all, even when you get nailed for duty/taxes its still cheaper and healthier to snus than smoke so it takes some of the sting out of it. It just makes all the free can/points deals less attractive when you save $20 on the snus but still have to pay $120 on the import.
I don't think that the site has any thing to do with it, just how lazy the cbsa agent is or if they even pull your package for inspection. I have had 50% of my bike parts come though with out duty and that's all kinds of box sizes from all over the world.
I have two more orders coming, one from SC and the other from BS which are the same company.........fingers crossed. I'm kind of enjoying the tax gamble.

+1
Customs declaration will always have the same description on the outside of the package regardless who is shipping it to you, so as PC mentioned, i dont think who you order from makes a difference for CBSA
Just curious , which site do you order from ? Do you think it matters regarding which site you order from ?
I have had the best luck with Northener. I have had ordered from BuySnus as well but three out of those four orders were nailed. These were five can orders shipped in a green envelope.

I would agree with this as well. A lot of it is luck.
