If you did find someone who will, the WORST thing you can do is mention it online.
Relax it's not actually cuban snus. It just says montecristo

It has Cuban tobacco in it, and the manufacturer(who keeps an eye on this site and others) will put the smackdown on stores that sell to USA customers.

        Dunno,

I don't really see how it was such a bad experience. I understand what you say went down, but if you completed the order and then changed your mind it may have been too late. Buyer's remorse doesn't necessarily always equate to poor service.

Luckily you will love loose snus and will be happy that it all went down the way it did and that you ended up with a healthy little supply to start out with.

Really by the time you finish the first tin you'll have an Icetool on order.

Umm, yes, it has Cuban tobacco and thus is illegal to ship into the Untied States. Why do you think neither Northerner or Buysnus will ship it here???

Originally "The MonteCristo" referred solely to the most widely known Cuban cigar brand, but in 2004 Swedish/Norwegian Snus Company Tabaco AS developed MonteCristo Snus, a moist-powder, portioned, tobacco product. Tabaco AS aspires to the Montecristo Cigar by using the same crossed-swords insignia, marketed by the Cuban cigar since 1935; MonteCristo Snus combines hand picked Cuban tobacco with Norwegian spring water, and complies with all Swedish And Norwegian Food Health Administration requirements. Taboca AS produces two other Snus products, a male and female snus version of the famous Cuban cigar the Romeo and Julietta and Tabaco Snus.

            http://everything2.com/title/Montecristo

It is true that in the USA Montecristo CIGARS are available but they are made from tobacco coming from the Dominican Republic:

Due to the embargo on Cuba, the US market was closed to the Montecristo brand. This changed, when an alternative operation began in the Dominion Republic. This was possible due to the rights of Cuban copyright being limited by the embargo. Due to these measures, Montecristo cigars (to a similar quality to their cuban counterparts) once again became available to the US. This operation soon became owned by Altadis SA which also control distribution and marketing in the US.
But when it comes to the SNUS it is being made from tobacco purchased directly through Habanos SA/Cubatabaco:

In 1994 Habanos SA was formed to handle distribution and marketing of Cubatabaco's products overseas. The brand has continued to expand its range and regularly releases special editions for its anniversary, and the brand has become one of the best known cigar brands worldwide.

In 2006, Habanos released a variety of snus produced using the same tobacco as used in Montecristo cigars. Released in Sweden the brand has become well known due to its highly distinctive aroma and taste when compared to traditional Swedish snus. The brand is now also associated with cigarillos, with three varieties being available.

That is actually one of the first things I thought about when I heard of the whole LS/Camel thing......we are finally getting closer to the embargo being lifted, and in the end it still won't matter for snus (as far as Montecristo and RyJ) because of these trademark issues. :?

                I disagree.

I work in an office that has a warehouse attached to it that does nothing but fill/ship internet orders (retail) and supply our wholesalers with the product they need to re-sell the product we manufacture. We are a VERY small operation, 7 employees total (not including the owner who works along side us.)

I can see how some of you would see an order that is packed and out the door in under 10 minutes as impressive, I know first hand it is physically impossible. Not to mention (which I have before) that this all took place at 1am THEIR time Monday morning.

Yet, while they were able to pack it in immaculate time they were not able to email me back until about 10 hours later. It doesn't take a genius to figure out they showed up several hours after my order was placed and paid for, began packing and filling orders, sent them off, and
then decided to see if there were any emails.

Tomorrow morning when I show up to work I can GUARANTEE there will be orders where the CC was entered incorrectly, the zip code given will not match up with UPS, there will be messages on the machine/emails from people who forgot to add something/want something taken off, etc. I handle all of these issues well before the order is processed and sent to the warehouse.

                That's good customer service.

I retracted that part of it because I'm not 100% sure if it's correct.

Taboca AS (who has a partership with Habanos SA) was involved in that fight with Philip Morris over the Taboca/Taboka name. It's partner Taboca USA renamed itself North American Smokeless which brings us Noric Ice and Klondike snus.

Altadis is now owned by Imperial Tobaco.

It's a mess that I'm sure will end up in the courts. When they start fighting over the trademarks.

Sorry, that hit a nerve. I do appreciate the comments - you're probably right. For the record Northerner is sending me:

                    Skruf Stark, Loose
                    Goteborgs Rape, Loose
                    General, Loose
                    Ettan, Loose

                    And GetSnus is sending:

Rothbrix(Phantom) Blue, Loose (I've heard this tastes like Windex)
                    Roda Lacket, Loose
Skruf Stark, Loose (hope I like this!)
                    Discreet Strawberry
                    Discreet Original

I'm not sure that Northerner even has a Swedish warehouse. They could very well be drop shipping which makes sense given the perishable nature of snus. That would add a wrinkle in the order scheme.

You could be right. According to this they may ship from PA.

But then why would it take 8 days for people to get their snus? The ONLY explanation would be a poor turn-around time, but they fill and ship orders in a matter of minutes!

                          Dunno,

The order was automatically generated and went straight to the warehouse and the person that handles customer service emails didn't read it until after the warehouse had shipped it already. Just because your actions were 10 minutes apart doesn't mean they get processed by the same channels on the other end in the same 10 minute timeframe.

I meant drop ship from a Swedish supplier. They have a very limited selection that comes from the USA; mostly General and American brands.

I have a very vague recollection that they use the drop ship method in Sweden, but I could be getting them confused with someone else. It would be the best way to run the business, as a wholesaler will be moving more snus, and there's less chance of having old stock sit around like you might get with an online seller that only has 1 store. I don't know the ins and outs of drop shipping, but the order could go directly to the wholesaler, without any involvement by Northerner itself. They'd only be contacted in case of a problem, and really be a intermediary between the end users and the wholesaler. This is purely speculation, and I don't know any of this for fact, but it could explain the order/shipping times.

I always order from Northerner as it's best for me here in the UK and I cannot knock them at all. They ship extremely quickly.

I've tried to cancel an order in the past and was unable to but that's life. Now I'm armed with the knowledge that Northerner will not cancel an order I fill up my cart again immediately after an order and take the whole month to make up my mind and tailor my order by editing my cart very carefully for the next one as my tastes change throughout the month.

I just stuck this order in last night at about 03:00 hours GMT and it has already shipped bearing in mind that it was 2-3 days before they would have had the Thunder according to their website.

LOL Nicobuzz, for my own reasons, I too build my orders very early. Makes it easy to pull the trigger to. I get paid once a month, so will usually stumble out of bed to check and confirm money is in account. then a few clicks, order is done, then go back to sleep.

                                Snus...no, I won't wait.
