I'm no Mormon, but I do know that they are forbidden to use tobacco.

Wait a minute....oh god. It all comes together now.

If my assumptions are correct, I will not visit any state with a government that dictates law per their own religions beliefs. Plus I might get tazered at a random traffic stop.

I love the random ignorant(hate to use that word because i mean it in its true definition which is just not knowing) things us non mormon utahns have to put up with. So yes they dictate the tobacco true and ive heard jokes about the drinking, but have you ever heard of a DRY county? Well i havent cuz i live in utah.. now the bible belt? from what i understand there are miles and miles of places where ya cant find a SINGLE drink..

My point is, dont dog on us for the state we live in. Its home and we love it(in fact were glad people know so little about it) and there are religious extrememists wherever you go, be it mormons in utah, or babtists in texas.
Either way, we all have to find our own way and in utah, if you keep with people that share your views you have access to everthing from the greatest mountain snow to the most amazing redrock deserts. We have all four seasons, and its a damn safe place to be

So no worries eh? Cant we all just pass around a can of peace snus and play nice?

No, I'm Hindu, as far as spiritual/religious beliefs go.
But as was later mentioned, I knew Mormons shun tobacco, and coffee.

And wondered if this might be the cause of the laws, and I was curious if you might be one of those rebel Mormons, sipping on Starbucks in secret.

I'm sorry if I came off as offensive. I didn't intend any harm. I was just explaining to another poster that mormons are forbidden to use tobacco and therefore wouldn't be on this website. But something dawned on me, which I explained in my second post, and that just isn't right if that's whats going on. But I meant no offense to the people of Utah, just the government. *takes the peace can*

No worries.. (and really, no offense at all taken)

To be honest, i really think they have a double agenda going on.

#1 Sad but true, there is definitely a strong influence in this state with the predominant religion. It can be very maddening at times especially if you aren't a part of it, but what can ya do? Home is home lol. So i definitely think that has an underlying effect in legislation like this.

#2 (and in this case i honestly think is the main reason) It is a MONEY issue. As i read in SB 128(?) there is no problem with "face to face" sales of any type of tobacco. The anti tobacco folks are going to explain this new law as a protection against minors being able to obtain tobacco products. Most logical people will see this as a pretty poor excuse (if i had ordered tobacco through the mail when i was a kid, theres NO WAY my folks wouldnt have found out at some point) so this leads me to believe they are primarily concerned with losing the tax money from their "face to face" bs. If youve ever bought a pack of smokes or a can in utah you will understand how much money they stand to lose over internet sales. So i really feel they arent so much concerned with banning the tobacco(at least in this case lol), just losing the money on it.

Luckily, on a recent search for local snus (general and the such) i talked with another customer in the tobacco store who had been ordering pipe tobacco from north carolina. He said the way he found out about the new law was in a letter sent to him from the company in N.C. stating due to state legislation they would no longer ship him his beloved bacco.

Knowing this, i doubt a swedish company is going to take any notice of a state law in the U.S. (specially from utah  ) So like i said before i am gonna continue to order my snus and take my chances telling the man to stick it.

Love the people in this forum and so glad i can be a part of it..

If anything interrupts my supply of snus I'm going to lose it. I pay my fair share of taxes and refuse to be further taken advantage of.
