    Brick and mortar store prices

I'm fortunate to live near San Francisco, one of the cities that has stores that sell the Swedish Match products in the US. I swung by today and picked up a can of General Portion and General White Portion Peppermint. The total came to $13, which is quite good for the city, as a can of Skoal or Copenhagen can run you up to $8. I was just wondering what sort of prices the other retail stores around the country have?

I've been to two stores in New York City. One charges an even 5 bucks, one 4.71.

Just bought here in Austin yesterday, and my total was around 23 bucks for 5 cans.

The store at the Block in Orange, Ca charges about $7 per can, which to me seems way too high. I will have to make sure that I always have enough stock to not have to go there while waiting for a new order to arrive.

I couldnt see why anyone would pay that sort of money for the stuff. I could see doing it in a pinch, but you can cut the cost in half by ordering online. I have bought from stores in Florida and only paid about $3.50 for a can of general Los.

I remember being in SF, CA back in 2000 and I almost choked at the price when I went to buy a 4-pack of guinness and a pack of smokes. Cool city, but WAAAAAAAAAY too expensive for the small pleasures in life.

Bought a can of General portions Here in Dallas for $4.85 with tax. Pricy, but not a deal killer. Much prefer buying online.

$3.75 a tin for the General or CatchDry at Tobacco Depot stores in Florida. Course, Florida also has the cheapest cigs in the nation because of low taxes. I can buy any brand for less than $3.75 a pack.

Like I said, $6.50 is actually a good price for the city (cheaper than American snuff). However, I'm not surprised that it's much cheaper around the country. I AM surprised, though, that it's only $5 in NYC, the land of $7.50 packs of Marlboro Lights.

Ordering online isn't a possibility for me, so I'm stuck with it.

I'd rather not say, but I might start ordering online eventually.

Give cash to a friend and let them order for you?

I pay a few pennies over $5 a tin when I purchase locally....obviously that's only when it's an emergency. I moved a short while ago, and my supply ran lower than I thought it was going to  so I'm glad to have a place I can go to in town when the need arises.

In the short time I spent moving from the old place to the new, I found out that my internet addiction is almost as bad as my nicotine addiction.

Just bought a tin in San Antonio (first USA in-store snus purchase) and it was $4.50 tax included. It was General White portion and it was in a little snus fridge with all its little snus friends in a little corner of the cigar shop. So far I have only seen General snus and Catch here and only in three places.

The current price is about dollar more than ordering a tin online (before shipping costs) but probably wouldn't be practical for anything over a few tins. Nice for getting some in a pinch though.

For anyone in/around San Antonio the stores are:
                        The Humidor
Club Humidor(the one I went to...in the Quarry)
                        Finck Cigar

They are all on google maps.
                        Happy Snusing.

You should come to rural Missouri. I don't know how high our cig tax is but when I smoked Camel Filters I never paid more than 3.20 with tax. This was only a year ago.

Never seen swedish snus in a store, wish I have!

senork, I grew up in California, went to Berkeley, and lived in Oakland for 5 years. The reason I ragged my wife back to North Carolina when we got married 14 years ago was I just new we could never get ahead trying to live in California.

Just be grateful you CAN buy snus in a store. The closest I have is Richmond, VA, which is about 3 hours north.

Went to Cigar Inn in NYC yesterday and picked up 4 pucks of General White Portion for $6 each. I don't know where people are finding cigs at $7.50 a pack. The price range in Manhattan is anywhere from $8.07 to $9.75, maybe even a flat $10 at some stores.
