    Gum pain

Have been doing snus for bout month/1.5 for now, and I'm still getting the gum pain for the first few mins I put the snus in, anyone know why? Is it the salt?
I can say that since I put it under my lower lip, it hurts less than if I put it under my top lip. Feeling with my tongue, my lower lip(the place where I put my snus) feels kind of wrinkled lol.

Most people would call that the burn and some snus will probably always give you some burn like the wintergreen ones but most people get a little toughness in that area after a while. The wrinkled thing is also totally normal and usually goes away.

      What RRK said

Pain = burn, especially from wintergreen or (high) nicotine

Wrinkled = abrasion from salt and tobacco pressing against gum/lip

Move the snus around (top to bottom, side to side) i.e put each portion in a diffiernt place than the last one.

Use Baking Soda Tooth paste (like Arm and hammer tooth paste non gell if you can find it).

Your lip will toughen up a bit but there are some brands that will always be more irritating than others (due to flavoring like wintergreen, quality of tobacco, type of portion material). Thus you might want to try a variety and see if there are some that are more bothersome than others.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted

Is it really gum pain, or is it burn? The burn is fine. Like with mouthwash or whiskey, that is just how you know its working. You will get used to it and crave it after awhile.

The burn is there, wherever I put it, just not so much on the lower lip.

Hmm, after I do snus it keeps getting more wrinkled or such, I also found out today that the area is pretty sensitive to hot/cold.
Any ideas if this will go away?

I sometimes have gum ache, like it feels like my teeth are gonna fall out. I sure hope not. I don't even snus very much, or all day. I've told myself I wanna take a full day off, but as soon as I get to work, and sip on some coffee, I just end up reaching for a snus. I guess I'm addicted or habituated, with snusing at work, but after work, I don't snus at all, and I can not use any tobacco at all easy after work. Sometimes I'll do some chew, but some days not, I didn't yesterday. But I usually do 4 snus while at work for 10hrs.

                  V,

What snus brands are you using?

Also again I can't stress this enough- change locations each time you snus. You can still have your favorit spot/side but you still need to change it up a bit-- or so it seems

Thunder!!! man your snusing gunpowder. No wonder. I'm surprised your face hasn't fallen off

Do you have to have an extra stark?

You might try starting with an extra stark first snus of the day and then going to a regular strength portion for the next couple of times then back to a stark (maybe at lunch or early afternoon) then back to regulars till evening and so forth (changing locations each time).

I'd use extra starks only as much as I absolutely needed (e.g. to stave off cigarette cravings) But if that's not the issue I'd transition to regular strength ASAP. That is what is burning your gums.

With portions, Thunder Frost and General Mint give the biggest burns. Its the mint that is burning you, not the snus itself. A lot of the los brands burn, even the non mint ones, but with portions, the mints burn the most.

I am weird I guess. I like the burn. My brain equates the burn with "its working" for some reason, and my cig cravings go away before the nic actually kicks in. I say that because it has been stated that it takes 10 or 15 minutes for the nic to kick in, but my cravings leave after like 5 minutes when I pop a Thunder Frost in.

For some reason, Thunder Berry burns the least of the meager few I have. Good thing this newb likes it too.

If its actual gum pain, you might try packing the pris looser and thinner so as to lessen the pressure and abraision of the gums.
