New to the site, couple questions

Former grizz wintergreen user, first tried camel snus one night put 2 in and thought there has to be something better than this so after researching a little found getsnus.com and ordered.

    Currently have the following:

    3-Thunder Frosted mini (love these)
5-Skruf stark white (getting used to the flavor, maybe it's the rose oil)
1-Onyx (this was a freebie with my order and I love the peppery citrus, portions feel like silk)
1-General dry mint mini (good for when my gums are a bit sore, nice flavor)

    Have ordered:
    Flavored Sampler #2 from getsnus
    1-Roda Lacket Claq Qui
    1-Goteborgs No. 2 White
    1-Roda Lacket White
    1-Lab Series 02
10-Thunder Blue (yes 10, little worried from mixed reviews)

Kinda just trying to find what brands I prefer at the moment. Anyone have any recommendations for me based on what I already have tried or something I need to try.

Also I'm a big mountain dew drinker, what's the best snus to go with it in your opinion?

I've been keeping these all in the fridge, should I freeze snus I won't be using for a while or is the fridge fine?

Thanks in advance, great site here lots of good info!!!

Welcome to snuson! 8) You also need to check out the Discreet packs if you like "flavored" snus, and since you're a former Griz Wintergreen user, you need to try the General Wintergreen and the Offroad Wintergreen Los...they're a little better than the portions.

I keep the tins I don't have opened or am not going to open immediately in the freezer. Try some Nick&Johnny Strong its a straight tobacco flavor but pretty good. I am using Thunder Frosted now and ya its some good stuff. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks, I will definitely pick up some general/offroad wintergreen with my next order (I got the thunder wintergreen with my flavor sampler)

Do I need a portion tool with los?

Thanks for the welcome, is the original N&J similar to N&J black?

Not at all. A tool can make the experience nicer if it's something you want to pursue, but for just trying it out, handbaking/hillbilly method works fine. Many users never get a tool. I do love my IceTool though :^)

At first I thought you might be related to me. I too am a former Grizzly WG dipper and also slug down Mountain Dew. I like General Extra Sterk with my Dew and Thunder Frosted as well but then those are my two favorites any way so I guess I didn't really give much help to you.

I drink it while using Los as well but with a straw. Haven't got brave enough to try it without one.

I use an Icetool with mine because I got one free when I bought two rolls from BuySnus back when they had a special deal going on.

I really do not see the day of going back to dip of any kind. I would just give up tobacco first. Last can of Copenhagen I had was rough. Don't like Grizzly any more either.

Oh yeah, welcome to a great website.

Oh ok I will have to try some los and if I like it upgrade to an Icetool eventually, thanks.

Awesome info, I agree going back to dip now is not going to happen, especially since I can't carry a spitter around at work.

Thanks for all the great info guys!

                Booogaard,

Welcome. If you're going to snus then you need to atleast try plain old General and Ettan. Not using them is like someone new to dip not atleast trying plain old Copenhagen and plain old Skoal.

Freeze anything you don't plan on using within 12-16 weeks.

Your taste buds will change over time so the stuff you love right now might taste awful a month from now (and vice versa) You don't want to get stuck with a roll of something you only use a portion or two a week of.

Thanks sounds like solid advice, will definitely include the "tried and true" snus with my next order. If plain general/ettan are anything like onyx I'm sure I will enjoy them. I liked grizz/cope straight back when I dipped also.

The 10 can Thunder Blue purchase was kind of an impulse, I figure I could probably trade a few with friends since they mostly order from getsnus.

Will just continue to try different snus to try and refine my palette and see what I like and don't.

I'm sorry but I'm one of the few members here that absolutely don't believe in this whatsoever.

But I will agree with that there are many distinguishing flavors of snus. And would suggest giving as many as ya can a try. Just like any product type, have fun and try what ya can. If one stands out above the rest then go for it.

I'm also an advocate of quitting regardless of what your reason or belief is. And encourage that no tobacco use is the best tobacco use. Don't use this product out of novelty. I put my foot in my mouth whenever I say it, but that's what addiction is.

I think the change from dipping to snus is fine for now (and probably a few more years  ) But thanks for the advice!

                            Hey Booogaard,

Scope out a Prismaster. It's cheap, Getsnus and Buysnus have them, prolly Northerner, I got one from Buysnus for free months ago.

I finally got the same free promo icetool as PMD mentions, but the prismaster worked OK for me. I have practiced at hand baking a little along, so I use my hands sometimes, too. It's hands and fingers or the icetool, now; I gave the prismaster to my brother.

There's also always the homemade tool option. I've never tried that but there's threads around here; probably you could just search for "syringe".

I'd never discourage someone buying an icetool, but once you're for sure about it, there may be a special again. Mine was free with 20 cans of Swedish Match snus. I bought a roll of General ESL and a roll of Grov. I was still pretty new, but those turned out to be okay choices.

GetSnus had a free tool with 30 cans of GESL, but I just looked and it says "Sold Out". That special ran a good long time. I don't know if there are any similar offers anywhere at the moment, but if not, I feel like another one will be right around the corner.

30 cans is so much, if you used 6 pris a day, at 1g a pris, that'd be 225 days worth. Now if someone had a special that was buy 10 cans, get an Icetool half off, that might interest me. But I never use los anyway. I do have one can unopened in the freezer.
