I just throw all mine (about 20) into a freezer bag, get most of the air out and then put it on a shelf in the fridge. No problems so far.

Everyone does it different around here. I personaly keep all mine refrigerated and freeze whats not open. If I go somewhere with no fridge then I just throw a couple various kinds into an empty tin and use the catch lid for wintergreen snus so i dont mix the flavor. I'm pretty sure it keeps fine for a couple weeks without refrigeration though.

    Snus storage

do you need to keep all snus refrigerated? if so, long can you have snus out of the fridge for before it goes bad?

Hell, I never put them in bags in the freezer either and I have never had a problem....more than 2 years now, and I have had upwards of 90 in the freezer before, so they were there for some time

Let me first say that I never have more than about 10-12 cans at a time. That said, I keep all my cans in a large ziplock bag, inside my "crisper" drawer in the fridge. Never have had a can go bad.

I use the butter thingy also. How neat!

That's more for freezer storage, though fridge snus would benefit from that also. If you have less than 15 tins, I'd just keep them open in the fridge. If you have more than that, an air tight container will keep the snus nicer.

    In fridge storage?

So, I've been using the poor man's storage system for a little while (cold weather+cooler room+mini cooler+reusable ice pack=success!), but in my ongoing progression, I have invested in a mini fridge, and it should be on my doorstep sometime tomorrow.

In looking around, I see some people talking about airtight storage in bags or containers. Is that all that much of a necessity for snus stored in a fridge, or is that more a freezer thing to help ward off freezer burn?

No, a refrigerator actually dehumidifies the air inside it. I'm not sure why snus doesn't dry out in the fridge, but a by-product of the heat cycle is dehumidification.

slightly off topic. Would adding an open glass of water to the fridge keep the humidity levels higher in the fridge thus keeping the snus more juice?
