    tap9981, welcome to Snuson.

My standard practice is freeze unopened cans. I hoard snus, have over 80 in the freezer, have let some frozen go a year past best by date no issues.

Open cans that I am just going through never hit the fridge again.

The only cans I keep in the fridge is snus I might use one a day of.

There is no need to put a snus in the fridge if you are using it. Mine stay by my bed for 3 -6 days, no issues. *Some* people just really prefer cold snus. You do, put it in the fridge, either way it will be fine

    Welcome to the forums!

I freeze unopened cans, keep open cans in the fridge at home, and at room temperature when I'm out.

I think that's the standard way of keeping snus. Some people have mini-fridges for their office, but I don't take it that far...

    Hi, Tap. Welcome.

I like to keep my opens cool as much as possible. As long as you keep the lid on, they should be fine.

Vets will be along to correct me if I'm wrong, in short order

    Enjoy your stay.

Edit: You don't *have* to put them in the fridge. It depends on how long they last. A few days in air conditioning is fine. I'm in Florida and don't even always have the AC on when I'm gone, so I usually stash them in the fridge.

    Refrigerating Open Snus

Should I put a open portion can in the fridge in between use or is this a bad thing to do?

cool man, im totally psyched about this mini fridge. my sons crib is in my bedroom so my room is now babys room, so i have this storage room where i piled boxes in the corners and cleared a small area for my video game chair, tv and xbox, and now my mini fridge where my snus, tonic water, beer and ice tray, and optionally snacks will reside. im so stoked.

Fridge setting doesn't matter so much. I set mine to make my drinks as cold as I like :^) The snus tins say 8C(46F) on the bottom. Use a thermometer to check, but I wouldn't worry about it.

thanks. i wouldnt think it uses that much electricity anyway, but what do i know? the answer is nothing. my fridge doesnt have like a temp setting, but its got a little dial and i dont know what i should set it to. right now its at 4 which is a little over halfway to the max coldness, seems reasonable. im thinking i could even lower it a bit.

That would tend to use more electricity since you'd be bringing it up from a warm state every day. If you use the mini fridge, I'd just keep it plugged in.

i just picked up an old mini fridge today for helping my buddy move. so far ive been keeping them in the crisper in the big fridge, no ziplocks. im thinking id like to keep them in the mini fridge, but im not sure the minimum temperature i should keep it at, i dont really feel like using ziplocks cause i just wanna grab and go, and i dont really want to keep the mini fridge on at all times to save on electricity. i was thinking once its cold, unplug it and itll stay cold while im gone.

Get some freezer bags, and keep your unopened snus in the freezer. I have frozen snus that's 1.5+ years old, and it's still pretty good. Not quite as good as brand new, but still very acceptable.

I have all of mine in the fridge, with open cans on my desk. We keep our apartment at a cool 65-70 degress F, so hopefully it's not too bad an environment.

    Ah, thanks for this thread.

I went and bought a super cheap-o mini fridge to keep in my office, just for snus. I got a thermometer and put it in there overnight, and the thing only cools to 45F or so. I was getting worried that my snus would be ruined... but it sounds like 45F will do well for a couple weeks to a month.

The rest I have just been keeping in the freezer in those ziplock freezer bags.

I had to look it up :P but, yes, the area I live in is classified as a "Humid Sub-Tropical Climate". Other areas classified as such include south China, Japan, Northern India, SE South America, East Australia, and parts of South Africa. If you've been to China, you've experienced what summers in western central South Carolina are all about.

Without reading any of the other responses, it lasts WAY longer than it takes to use it just laying around anywhere. Dont worry about it.
