It sucks no more JTI, soon enough no Skurf, SnusX. Shipping is crazy it costs like twice as much, on northerner you have to pay taxes. Hell northerner doesn't stock shit they've got no JTI snus or skurf, you can't just stop selling something that's one of the most popular varieties.

How does Oregon tax tobacco products?

Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) chapter 323 discusses how tobacco products are taxed in Oregon and related administrative requirements. The general categories below have a different treatment.

• Cigarettes – are taxed by application of an Oregon cigarette tax stamp. The current tax rate is $1.18 per package of 20 cigarettes.
• Cigars – are taxed on 0.65 percent of the purchase price paid on untaxed cigars except that the maximum tax on cigars that cost $0.77 or more “each” is limited to $0.50 per cigar.
• NEW – Moist Snuff – the tax is $1.78 per ounce except that the minimum tax paid per retail unit is $2.14 per unit. This begins on January 1, 2010.
• All Other Tobacco Products - are taxed on 0.65 percent of the purchase price paid on untaxed tobacco products.

Moist snuff is any finely cut, ground, milled or powdered tobacco product that is not intended to be smoked or placed in the nasal cavity. It does not include things like cigarettes, roll-your-own tobacco, pipe tobacco or cigars.

I purchased moist snuff over the internet for personal use. How do I pay the tax on the moist snuff I purchased?

You will find Form 531, Oregon Quarterly Return for Tobacco Products, on our website at http://www.oregon.gov/DOR/TOB/forms-tobacco.shtml. You will need to complete and submit this return and supporting schedules with payment to the Department of Revenue for each calendar quarter in which you purchase moist snuff or other tobacco products.


When is my tax return due?

Tobacco tax returns are due on the last day of the month following the calendar quarter for which a tax return is required. For example:

Why must animals die over our snus selection? The Walrus' and Tigers didn't do anything to you. If you really want to show you displeasure just write to your local senator or congressperson. They are always more than happy to hear from their constituents especially in matters effecting their rights and freedom. I wrote to my own Senator, Diane Feinstein and she sent me a letter back personally assuring me that she will take my views into consideration when voting for PACT. How cool is that?

I flat out refuse to make a post PACT order, too much hassle and too much of an annoyance. It was nice to be able to order variety and then come home to find it in my mailbox but now I feel I have to babysit the package like its depleted uranium.

I found a great local store here in the Metro Detroit area that has a friendly staff and carries General's at very good prices. I enjoyed the conversation and personal attention and I have no issues giving my business locally to folks who could use it. I walked in, they got my tins from the cooler and I paid ~$15 for 4 tins and was asked if there were specific ones I would like and if I planned on being a regular, let me know what stock dates & shipments came in, told me I could buy rolls at a discount. I left with my Snus when I wanted it and did not have to wait - Just wonderful.

I don't get to order the variety I used to, but I don't have the wanderlust I did when I was a Snus Noob. General White portion and general Mint is just fine for me, and even then I still prefer General white portion 95% of the time, pretty soon I will probably stop getting the mint all together.

The one funny aside was when I asked for Snus the person at the counter pointed me towards the US Camel & Marlboro on the shelves behind him, until I chuckled and said "Noooo, ACTUAL Snus" then we went to the cooler....

I've been too scared to even look at what I have to pay and from what I can choose post-PACT. But given my ravenous appetite for Odens and the the depleting stock of it in my freezer, I'm gonna have to do this soon.

Completely off-topic, I just realized something as I was typing this. I'll be entering Singapore on Sep 27 for 3 days before flying home. I read that they do not allow any cigarettes purchased outside their borders into the country. I've also read that their customs agents are tough as nails (they can and do demand a urine analysis from some travelers on the spot and it's a serious crime to even have drug metabolytes in your system but no drugs with you). I wonder how my snus stash will go over with those fellas... Argh. I might have to just dump like 30 portions in my pocket and hope they don't search me. I can't say it's gum, because gum is illegal too! ****.

Good Luck with Singapore Roo. Their customs are ridiculous. It was a nightmare even getting a laptop through there for business since they need to be sure it didn't contain banned books, pirated material, anything obscene, etc. Laws may have changed, but I think a small amount of tobacco is allowed for a fee. Although, chewing tobacco and imitation tobacco are banned, so you better hope they know what snus is. I will be curious to know how it works out for you.

It's a long story, but it turned out that logistically Singapore was the perfect departure point from this odyssey, and I want to see it once, so now is the time. I just hope I still have some goddamn snus on me by the time I board the 20 hour flight to Chicago, where I wait for a 4.5 hour flight back West to Seattle. If I can hang onto some snus for this flight, I guarantee that snus will be the best snus I've ever had. TWENTY hours including a touch-down in Hong Kong where I am not allowed off the plane. God, I might even shove some Odens up my poopshute for that. Whatever it takes. Wish me luck.

I'd look into doing something with lös snus. It's easier to creatively hide/disguise than portions are.

Edit:
You could put lös into WetNap packets, and reseal them. One pack should keep the same dimensions as a WetNap, while holding enough for a pris. It would also be something a traveler could be expected to carry.
