US FDA Health Warnings On Snus Everywhere

Wow, even banner pics for snus on websites and newsletters now carry prominent US FDA health warnings.

I strongly suspect the manufacturers will start printing these on the cans as well themselves.

Seems unfair on non-US customers when the warnings are only tied up around US legislation and are not valid outside the US and not backed up by the scientific studies in Sweden which downgraded the warning to that of snuff long ago.

Being greeted by them makes me feel I might as well go smoke again.

A sad time for Swedish snus and celebrating the health benefits of using it over smoking.

I don't think they'll add the warnings to non u.s. brands like Ettan, Roda Lacket, etc. Thunder etc. General Mint and Wg will have them as does Jakobsons Wg.

Well I don't think too many Scandanavians buy their snus online so I'd hazard to guess the USA is the largest share of the online business.
(The damn EU ban on snus isn't helping you guys on the other side of the pond)

I think you hit the nail on the head there justintempler.

The majority of web snus store customers are now US hence why they need to cater for that audience with their website content (eg FDA warnings)

Who knows, maybe one day the EU snus ban may be lifted and I might be able to buy snus in my own country. But then again the UK government might put even nastier warnings on it

I highly doubt that the cans will have the warnings on them non-stateside.

It's a "different" product made for here than for there. Just like anything else.

I heard they're waiting for super-miniature CCTVs to embed
in each can so government can track where every snus is.
That alone should double the cost of snus and add to the
taxes collected.


Personal observation:
Whenever I read about the seemingly excessive CCTVs in the
UK, I can't help but think you have one of the biggest bunch
of bureaucratic busybodies!! Paranoia, anyone?

I know my Generals I got the other day, was a regular can, but with a round warning sticker on the catch lid, and a big sticker on the can side.

Once I go through my stored cans, I'll be making my own labels. I should have a lifetime supply of Gotland tins, so I'll print the different brands I use, and stick them to old Gotland tins. The FDA, anti tobacco zealots, and anyone else in government can kiss my ass.
