just an idea..... if you could find a tobacco retailer (tobacco shop or even a convenience store) that would be willing to buy your snus online for you it *might* get around the law. this way the snus would be sent ups to a lic dealer and then they would be retailing it to you. your transaction would be legal and if a lic dealer is able to have it sent via ups then it don't seem like it would matter where the snus came from. they would have to tax it for it to be really legal. i could be way off base

UPDATE ON IOWA, MASSACHUSETTS and SOUTH DAKOTA:

First let me say this, the process of getting us ready for PACT has shown me one thing; that the gov't wasn't ready to implement this new law. Most of the states that I spoke to didn't even know what PACT was, a few did, and a couple just didn't care, lol. States are set up to have wholesalers, and then retailers. They don't really have a category for webshop that acts as both, so many of these states simply didn't know what to do with us. Some said, "no sweat, just pay the taxes and we're cool", and some said, "hell no, you're not allowed to sell your wares here". Iowa, Mass. and South Dakota were part of that last group, yes...I said were.

Okay, South Dakota is out. We will not be able to sell Swedish snus to anyone in South Dakota via our website. So, if you live in South Dakota and want Swedish snus, please contact me asap and I'll do everything I can to set up a wholesale account with a local retailer so that you can buy from them.

Iowa-they don't really have a law prohibiting us from selling, but they don't know how to deal with us. I have a meeting on Monday with them to iron this one out. After a call from our attorney they seem a bit more "willing" to work it out. I will update this thread accordingly once I know something. So until we get this squared away, we won't be able to sell to Iowa residents, but it won't be too long.

Massachusetts-They flat out said no to us intitially, citing "no brick and mortar, then no selling via the internet". After the attorney spoke to them, we find out that it's not so much that we don't have a brick and mortar, but that they didn't know what to do with us. After speaking with our attorney they are willing to let us sell via the internet, but we have a few more hoops to jump through with them to get licensed. Once we get our distribution license, we will again be selling to Mass. For now, we cannot, but be patient as it shouldn't be too long. Thanks everyone.

            Typical behavior...
We haven't got a clue what's going on but we'll just do something and hope no one notices.

Kinda like Windows installing an 'unknown' device!!

"...willing to let us sell via the internet..."

            translates to

"Damn, that sounds like cold hard cash going down the drain (or the state next door). Can't let that happen but let's not make it too easy for them -- gotta show them who's boss!"

Well, I emailed my state rep. He's generally pretty responsive to my requests for information, I don't know what he'll think about this but it seems like a no-brainer.

yeah, gotta work out the details of what hoops they want us to jump through. Making progress though, hang in there. I'll keep everyone posted on Iowa and Mass.

I placed an order with ********* on the 20th of June. I received half my order right away. I assumed the worst for my other half after hearing the news about Ma. being a "banned" state. Then today I find two large envelopes in my mail. My name and address handwritten, no return address, no packing slip, swedish post. Hmmmm.
