I think the energy balance with plastic and paper is negative. Glass if I remember correctly is profitable to recycle. Anyone know for sure???

I'd be curious about petrol usage also. I'm not a fan of disposable plastics. I think the oil would be better used by doing something more productive. I wonder if you use more petrol collecting and reprocessing plastic, than you recover from the items.Originally posted by deebocoolsI too am a fan of that bullshit episode, but as usual they employ a false dichotomy, as if the only choices are landfills and recycling plants

I am aware that recycling is not just sending it off to the plant. Unfortunately I have absolutely no use for keeping more than two extra empty cans for on the go snus. I'm sure that when I buy a house and accumulate a few more things I will find a use.
What do you some of you use them for???

http://www.videosift.com/video/Penn-...shit-RecyclingOriginally posted by bearcat87As far as I know most plastic snus cans are made from #5 plastic. I don't think they can be recycled in the U.S.. Everywhere I have been and lived the only plastic that can be recycled is #1 and #2.Originally posted by desirexeI throw most of my cans in the recycling bin
Being a mild environmentalist, I do wish that we could recycle these cans!
*shrug*

in the spirit of the discussion, re-use before recycle! if you can't recycle them then you are challenged that much more to make use for them that doesn't require trucking them all over the place to be reproccessed

This reminds me of when we used to make "Poo Dollars" back in college. We would take a piece of poop (typically mine) and I would spread it like butter on one side of a dollar bill. Then I'd go out in the dorm courtyard and lay the dollar poo-side-down next to the soda and snack machines.Originally posted by Premium ParrotsIf I lived in the city I would take the empty tins with me when I walk my dog. After he poops I can collect the poop into the tin. And leave it somewhere that anyone walking along might think they've hit the jackpot, then picks it up and digs there finger into it. Its a bonus if they actually taste it.[/size]
Sit back and enjoy!
One time we did "Poo Purse" where we used a cheap $5 Wal-Mart purse and I pitched some black gold in it and we left it in the laundry room. Poor security guard stuck his hand in looking for an ID to return said purse to it's owner
Yes... I know I have issues
