Considering the humid summers, a dehumidifier would also be nice.

        snus

Refrigeration is a gimmick that Swedish Match used to cement retail space in Sweden. Snus out of the factory has a 20 week shelf life.

Non refrigeration reduces it to 16 weeks. It used to be 16 and 12, before SM loaded the market in January 2007, and unilaterally extended shelf life by 4 weeks so as not to take back returns.

And snus actually reaches its peak of flavor after the first 8 weeks.

If you are keeping snus for long periods, a freezer will do the trick. But if you are a regular user with a small rotating inventory, all fridges do is give you a cool feeling, but they don't do much for the product's freshness.

Yeah, given that snus was invented long before refrigerators existed, I think this is quite logical. I personally have used single cans of unrefrigerated snus for weeks, without any real bad effects. Actually some brands even taste better, when open for a few days.
But overall, I really recommend refrigeration. Most snus-brands loose a part of their taste very soon, if not refrigerated and protected against drying.

aj01, do you have any weblinks to 'cement' your findings or about the history of snus-use in general?

          Cheers!

Have been in the business. Common knowledge in Sweden.

That stuff isnt actually cheese, it is a naturally occuring geologic compound. Many fast food resturants are located on top of veins of the stuff and use powerful pumps to bring it to the surface for use on their sandwiches, fries etc. Continental drift, unlike the conventional geologic explanation, is in reality the earths natural response to cheesy fries.
