I haven't been able to find anything definite on that. Are they voluntarily ceasing shipments of ST to NY after PACT?

Meanwhile, Schumer said: "Cigarettes should not be sold in the mail or anywhere else to children or minors. We greatly appreciate and have supported the role of the Senecas in economic development in Western New York, and will continue to work with them."
While banning the mailing of cigarettes, the bill would still allow private shippers to deliver tobacco products. But many — including FedEx, UPS and DSL — have bowed to state pressure and refused to ship them.

Why? With tobacco being taxed the way it is we would have nothing to gain by banning shipments altogether. I think we will be OK for a while unless snus poses some kind of threat to Altria.

You're assuming laws are made with honorable intentions, by intelligent people. You have a lot more faith than I do.

"Let's face facts: Cigarettes kill people, and when these bootleg operations lose, the public wins," said Gretchen Leffler, regional vice president of the American Cancer Society in Western New York.

"Can you imagine a piece of legislation that is so common sense, so painfully obvious that, even in Washington's partisan climate, it passes the U.S. Senate unanimously?" she added. "That's what the PACT Act is."

              F UUUUUUUUUU.

Never in my life have I felt so tyrannized as I am by the abomination known as PACT.

I know, it's going to get worse.

ups, fedex, exc "voluntarily" quit shipping cigs sometime back. i put voluntarily in quotes because ny sued them and they voluntarily quit to save their butts more or less. so then the good people of ny and some of the other big tobacco cos <strike>bribed</strike> asked the us to make a law saying cigs could not be shipped via usps.

it's still legal to ship cigs via ups, fedex, etc as far as i know.... problem is ups, fedex, etc already signed their soul away to nyc saying they would not do it. So no cigs shipped usps and ups just don't think its in their best interest to ship them. but smokeless can still be delivered ups, etc and even to nyc. obviously i am not an attorney so i might be wrong but i dont think so

Not PACT. Bloomberg. This happened before the PACT abomination was even proposed.

                    Exactly!!!

And by Gretchen's logic every fast food chain and bar should be closed down as well. But didn't we try the whole close all the bars thing once before? How did that turn out? And while we are at it...........................aren't we watching one European nation after another financially implode as a result of the very same economic policies we are presently doing our best to implement?

This is insane.....................what's the next proven failed agenda that we can latch onto? Ethnic cleansing maybe? Feudalism? ...............tha SPANISH INQUISITION

When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Screwing up and letting Obama keep his democrat majority in Congress this Nov OR equally is bad, being stupid enough to re-elect him to another 4 in 2 yrs.

                        Yes it sucks!

I never said I like Obama. I voted for him partly because I did not want
Palin. I voted for Ron Paul in our primary.

Sometimes I think we'd all be better off with anarchy.
