yeeeeaaah, i dunno. i tried the swedish style and initially thought it was veryy good, but as time went on i couldnt wait to get rid of it. i traded it in the exchange i believe. at the end of the day, it was still a dry mini, and it just was not the same as the snus i purchase from sweden.

Ya know even if one of us snus-hounds had a couple million lying around doing nothing and wanted to jump into the game where exactly would one find the expertise and equipment to produce real Swedish style snus? It's not like there's a line of ex snus makers down at the unemployment office and poaching talent from Sweden sounds darn expensive not to mention a possible generator of considerable ill will. Also obtaining proper equipment is a far more complex matter than just cracking open a Graingers catalogue. As hard as that would be even worse would be trying to reinvent the real thing on this side of the pond without significant Scandinavian engineering help.
Outside of the majors, who appear to either not give a crap or attempting to actively sabotage the snus market, it's going to take a seriously dedicated and well financed bunch of snus nuts to gin up a serious American challenge to the real Swedish deal. You'd think an outfit like Dean Swift or Swisher would be interested there but it's going to be a lot bigger investment than just tuning up one of the existing snuff or dip processing lines to produce real snus. The portioning machines alone would strain the hell out of any small company's budget. Loose might be one option although the sales potential might be too small to get anyone's attention. What would make me grin big is to be able to buy a snus labelled F.U.B.A.R.
Perhaps the best we can hope for in this regard is that the makers of Discreet will get real snus religion and actively court the main market in addition to trying to carve out a novelty niche. Perhaps the hardest part of all will be having to play catch up in both technology and technique to Swedes and Danes who practically have the craft of snus making imbedded in their DNA.

i hope there will be good American Snus in the future but wider exposure to real Swedish snus is the first step. Just like exposure to good French and Italian wine led to good American wine and exposure to good European beer led to good American Micro brew.
