My first order: Review my decision

After scanning over 54 pages of forum topics i've decided to make my first real trial purchase. I have been going through general sampler packs and a can of general white portions but I wanted to try something new.

So here's what I got based on a wide variety of what people said on this forum, I hope I find something good here, did I make any good choices?

    Nick & Johnny, Strong Portion $ 3.75
    Grovsnus, White Portion $ 3.48
    Gotland Green, Portion $ 3.69
    Ettan, Portion $ 3.48

I paid like 8 dollars to ship them

I dig gotland green, and used to like ettan portions. Seems like you made an informed decision, because you will most likely latch onto at least one of those.

I'm not going to vote because I think all the ones you purchased are really good. I'm curious to hear what you think of each one. Remember, if you don't like one, stash it in the fridge for a month or so and then try it again.

I like them all, but I love the Nick and Johnny strong, and Grov. Looks as if you got a good first order. I suggest that you only purchase single cans until you really find some that you like.

Your tastes will change with time, and something that you love/hate now, may end up being your favorite or least favorite a few months from now.

Good luck and ask questions when you have them, we'll answer.

THanks for the replies so far. I feel about as excited for snus as that first time I got a pack of cigs (turkish royals) in highschool.

I switched cig brands a couple times, started with turkish royals, tried everything else and landed on Parliament lights, until eventually retiring to only buy Marlboro Smooths. And that was only because I smoked only after smoking a bowl of some weed and couldn't handle non-menth cigs after a while. The process of "finding your brand/s is always stimulating.

The future is here it seems, with snus and vaporizers I don't have to worry about my health and decreased level of endurance.

            My opinion:

            1. Ettan
            2. N&J
            3. Grov
            4. Gotland Green

In that order. However I've never had Gotland Green so I may very well like that more than Ettan or N&J. I doubt it though. It seems to me like you've got some good stuff there.

I voted for Nick and Johnny.

Ettan to me is meh. Grov is pretty darn good but it's pretty salty too. It's not as heavy in whites, but the flavor isn't quite as good either (I'd suggest original portions for Grov). Gotland's is good and unique, but not something you'll want to use on a regular basis.

If you order them all, it would actually give you a nice range of different types to try. You would have a sterk, a white, a reg and a flavored.

                Just do that.

                Come on...

                You know you want to....

Here's a good example of how personal taste comes into snus. Can't emphasize enough that it doesn't matter what anyone says, you have to try it for yourself.

As far as I'm concerned, I lump Grov, Ettan, and N&J into the same 'family' of flavor. I just never cared for the Ettan for some reason.
                  ~~
EDIT: Unless you just meant what different forms snus comes in. :?

Actually, I did! That was a list of my first order. With this post I wanted to get a feel for how good the selection was at least popularity wise. If people mostly felt that one was terrible (like almost everyone who refers to the taste of elixer sp* energy)then i might know not to spend too much time trying to acquire a taste for it or reorder if I dont like it at first.

I really just want to find my brand or two fast and order it in bulk to save $ Maybe though, snus is like beer and food (among other things)... selection should chosen based on mood and sensibility. I couldn't imagine eating just one type of food but then again I smoked Marlboro smooths almost exclusively before I quite

Sorry about that. I guess I need to pay more attention to what is going on.

Yeah, I think you hit it pretty good then. You missed out on getting anything "classic" (citrus/pepper/tobacco), but other than that, I think that is really good place to start. You should also think about getting some loose at some point, but that can happen later.

And don't get too attached to the idea of finding your single brand. Variety is one of the most attractive aspects of snusing.

Pepper sounds awesome.. What are some good classic brands to experiment with in citrus and pepper?

And i'm afraid of lus snus, it reminds me of chewing, though i haven't tried it and I really like the tidyness and convenience of the portions.

I would have tried at least one loose.

For a first order thats is a good selection. I've never had the green though but all the rest are good.

I was worried about trying los but my curiosity got the better of me so i added a can to an order. Now i do los probably 95% of the time. I only have portions on hand for when i'm at one of my boys high school games be it football, track meets etc.

As for a classic pepper/citrus snus, for me it would have to be General.

Good luck and enjoy your new venture

The classic with citrus and pepper is General. I would recommend regular but after this order you may have a sense of whether you prefer white or regular.

Gotlandssnus' foundations are built on three generations of snus experience, with the first snus on Gotland being produced in 1741. Using Alida tobacco, grown on the island of Gotland, in every one of their snus brands gives their snus a unique flavor that can only be found in Gotlandssnus.

Gotlandssnus is also the first ones to create a Christmas time snus, Julesnus, that's been a favorite since it's inception in 2003. Below is a list of the brands they produce
