Do you mind me asking what you do for a living, profession wise?
O man
Just remember, you asked.
I am self-employed. My degrees are in Philosophical Hermeneutics and Comparative Literature. I am published and currently working on 4 books (3 nonfiction/1 fiction) all of which seem to be never ending projects of highbrow foolery.
But……….
I never wanted to do this……
I always wanted to be …………….

When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
Geez Snusdog and Lazer.........always preoccupied with "wood"
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
All I ever asked for is fair treatment and not to be ignored by Snus.com & Northerner. Sorry but due to this, Frank and Fredrick got my blood boiling a little these days and I've become a bit of a smartass at some of their shenanigans and I apologize.
Honestly, Las, your tiff with Frank didn’t even come to mind. But it’s all good. Sometimes the family squabbles.

Well now there’s an image that’s irrevocably seared on my brain……a monkey with a hot grapefruit stuck on his pecker

LOL.
Now that I think about it most monkeys don't have access to microwaves. Lazer, the next best option is a sock full of liver.
But seriously....I'm not privy to what your complete beef is with Northerner LaZeR. From what I've read it seems to be related to a couple of customs charges from UPS deliveries. Whether or not Frank and Northerner are to blame for that, It is hard for me to believe that they have not made it right....I mean, what are we talking about here, 20 or 30 dollars??? My god, given the amount of bad press you give them, I'd think they would swallow that loss and compensate you just to put it to rest. They have probably lost much more than that from people deciding not to place orders based on your issues. Just my 2 cents....as I know I'd want to make things all good if I was running a business...customer service should be A#1, especially with a blue-balled monkey running amok.
Interesting. Not going to lie, I had to look that first degree up. Interesting stuff.
I am currently taking a critical thinking and ethics course.
We worked through Utilitarianism, Kantianism and other moral action philosophys.
The ethics of food aid and famine relief. Are you familiar with Hardin? I agree with him a lot.
War and terrorism.
Racism.
And we are currently on the topic of Abortions. Not legality debates but the morality of it.
If you cant tell this stuff gives me a boner
Probably the most influential writer on ethics today is Alasdair MacIntyre.
Two of his books that you should check out: After Virtue -- Whose Justice Which Rationality.
Also, Stanley Hauerwas. Book- Community of Character
Kant presents us with a non-sustainable system which estranges ought from is (thus ethics is always imposed- be it by man, society, or the gods. The result is an ethic that is based on power/violence verses authority/value). The rest you listed above tend to present caricatures of the nature of ethics in much the same way that a Millian view of language presents one aspect of discourse in abstraction from the rest. In the end, your ethical system is determined by ontology. Until that is clear, ethics is forever lost to a sea of drift.
The goal of interpretation is not to fashion meaning but rather it is faithfulness to the meaning intended. Faithfulness is an ethical category involving deference to the other, responsibility, and truthfulness (to list a few). Hermeneutics then is fundamentally an ethical matter.
But this is probably more than anyone cares to know.

Snusdogs' skillfully crafted post made me all teary eyed. Maybe there's even hope for our relationship with LaZer...
Anyone wanting in on these Skruf coupons, just send me a PM and I'll set it up.
Uhmmm. PM sent. I truly hope you read it this time and I think there are goblins about as one minute it's "Frank" and the other it's "FredrikS".

Sent you a reply.
As for the name issue. My name is Fredrik and my associate is named Frank and that's something we're just gonna have to live with. You will have to take that up with our parents, the bastards!
Hey all, so as you can tell by my name I recently quit dipping to use snus instead. The obvious reason is plain and simple: Swedish snus is safer than...
