I'd say Offroad will be the easiest of the ones you bought, followed by General, and Ettan. In general V2 lös(Offroad/Phantom) will be better for lower lipping, and I expect Röda Lacket to be a complete disaster :^D

    Welcome to SnusOn :^)

i understand that lower lipping it may make me salivate more, but i'm not worried about that...disgusting as it is, i enjoyed a good tobacco spit and my job is outdoorsy so i can spit freely.
and the tool thingie, also not gonna do it, not even gonna attempt it...i figure yrs of dipping fine cut gotta help my packing skills...couldn't i just "hillbilly pinch" it and pack it like that, without making a big production of it (gotta be able to do it on the fly and geared up for work...can't spend 5 minutes making a sweet prilla).

Fully intending to use the above just like american dip.
Yea I know, I'm an uncultured redneck American...but this is how
I enjoy my tobacco...if it doesn't workout like i want it to (like dip at least in the sense i can pinch and run with it) then i just won't use tobacco and will return to a boring nicotine free life
Am I doomed to fail, and what do you see happening with my experiment?
      Thanks
I have read a lot of first posts like this and most started upper-decking by the middle of their first can, and a good chunk end up with a prismaster at the very least on their second order. Quite a few move to portions (at least occasionally) once they see that they have virtually nothing in common with Skoal Bandits or Camel snus.

Every one is different, so I am interested to see where your experiment goes. Expensive dental work and working outdoors certainly makes it easier for you to take the "my way or the highway" approach.

As far as your selection of snus goes, that is a good range to start off with.

Good luck & keep us posted.

I'd recommend trying Klondike Long Cut snus. It's made to be placed in the bottom lip like the American dip brands.

          gambino,

Welcome to the forum. I am a long time x dipper and share many of your sentements. I lower lip snus all the time and love it. You do tend to lose more per spit than with dip (so you'll have to lock and load about ever 30 minutes or so).

Second I never hand bake anything. Its pinch and toss for me be it upper or lower lip

Also keep in mind that dip and snus are very different creatures. Thus snus is not going to do the damage to lip and gum that dip does. It also seems to stain the teath less than dip. I'm not sure where the dental work is that you had done but I know that I lower lip it under the front bottom teeth but I upper deck it well to the side of the mouth.

Anyway, a while back I started a thread here on the forum just for dippers who are making the move to snus. It’s called the “Dippers Guide to Snus”. A lot of folks have contributed some great info there that you may find helpful. Check it out.

Welcome gambino, I was a dipper until I made a trip to Sweden a few years back. I discovered General Snus and haven't looked back. I was like you I mostly hated the stuff but liked my NIC. "General, Loose" has been my fav for years but "General Ekstra Sterk, Loose" is better and now my fav your are going to love it. Try it in the upper lip this is where Snus was meant to be placed but also works in the lower lip don't be afraid to switch em up.

Your order looks right on the money to me there are also some very good portion Snus out there also.

I am not a dipper, was a smoker with the occasional bag of Red Man chew here and there. I really like Ettan, but regular pouches only, los is not for me. I did order a tin of los for a buddy at work so he could try out snus instead of using Cope. After he opened the can I took a big pinch out of it and bottom lipped it, I was impressed at how long it stayed together. Had it in there at least an hour but after that hour it started disapearing pretty quick, I guess I ended up swallowing most of it.

So if thats the only way you plan I using it I think you will do fine! And you made some really good choices, you may also want to try Oden's Kanel ES los also later.

and i just randomly picked what i thought was good...the portions i just can't seperate from skoal bandits and just look weak to me.

Hey gambino, I use my fair share of lös; it seems to be about every third or fourth helping, unless I'm really busy. It will take practice, but you really can "bake" in just a few seconds. One doesn't have to be fussy. There's a whole range from a really shapely pris all the way to a straight pinch 'n' tuck.

These days, I usually just mash a gob together and press it a little flat, and in it goes. Sometimes it's more of a cylinder, but I seem to be mostly past the stage where I keep fussing with it. It really doesn't make it better, and it's more likely the whole thing's going to fracture and crumble apart.

If you end up enjoying snus enough you'll find what works for you.

Not sure which Offroad Wintergreen you got as I believe there is a regular cut, and long-cut. If you got the long cut, you won't have any issues grabbing a pinch and throwing it in. It's stringy and coarse and I couldn't, for the life of me, get it into a pris tool. It's just too coarse. So that stuff should work great for what you want.

It won't taste like skoal or griz wintergreen exactly (lack of sugar and processed differently), but it might do the trick.

yea it's just the regular verison...i tried to keep it authentic, offroad longcut/klondike remind me too much of american dip (though i haven't tried either) and i figure if i buy those why not just go back to dip?
i want the less harmful effects of snus w/the same ease as skoal fine cut.
typicaly american D-bag i guess, who wants it all and won't bend for anyone

Tristik, welcome to the forum! I am an ex-dipper too, skoal fine cut wintergreen and cope snuff. I hilbilly los, both upper and lower deck, and don't really have any problems, I just take a nice tight pinch and pack it in there tight. If it gets too muddy, I just spit it out and start over, but I normally don't keep it in for more than an hour. I also put it in the back, more in the cheek like chew instead of in the lip. The Offroad wintergreen longcut and Grov los work best for me. Offroad wintergreen LC is not really like American wintergreen, but it's good, I actually prefer it now.

Confession time, I use snus just like I used to use dip, I don't put it in the fridge and I spit, so I guess I am a stubborn "American D-bag" just like you. I am an uncultured Swamp Yankee, northern version of a redneck. It's all good, as long as you enjoy it.

Chewing is definitely not a new way of enjoying tobacco - it is a rather old tradition - but the new, modern Nordic Chew is more like snus than traditional chewing tobacco. It looks the same way as Swedish snus and comes in loose form or in portions. ...
