Same here...not one ex-smoker that I know of has switched to snus other than myself. Even dippers can be hard to convince. My son's boss seemed interested so I gave him a few assorted ones to try. A couple days later while the son and his boss were sitting around, he told the son "Tell your mom that snus is disgusting" as he spit the juices from his dip into a bottle. Go figure  I even gave the son in law one of my highly-coveted bags of Discreet Strawberry hoping to convert him from cigs, but no go so far.

I also hear the "you're gonna get mouth cancer" and "just wait till you get bloody noses from the snuff". It's so bad that my doc knows I have the e-cig, but she's clueless about the snuff and snus I use. :P

Yes you should...it's good stuff! I resisted it for a while, but so many in here use it and like it that I ordered a few tins from Toque and the rest is history

I just got back from a trip to England to see my family. I took a bunch of different snus over, thinking i may be able to convert some family members. Most of them just weren't interested. Some said they may try some but none never did.

I've been living in Iowa for the last 8 years and this was my first trip back. I was amazed at just how many people smoke over there compared to here. But then smokeless tobacco just doesn't have a market there. I remember i used to see Redman over there but never tried it.

Maybe if snus could be positively marketed as a safer alternative to cigarettes it might gain some popularity. But then the UK is part of Europe so i guess it is actually illegal to sell snus there.

I don't even try anymore. Anything you put in your mouth people look at with strange suspicion.

I have had some folks come and ask me about it and I gladly put together a small sampling of discreet snus and some common Swedish brands so they get a taste for what it's about but I only have had one person who was seriously considering, other than my wife She snuses now too.

Everyone I've tried to convert here is just not down with it. They all think it's dip regardless of what you tell them (the people here aren't real bright anyway). I too have gotten the "it's gonna rot your face off" comment from a good many. I did however get my brother to cut back on the smokes for the most part, but that's the best I've managed. There's not really that many smokers here though, even fewer dippers. It's like being the odd man out, with both the dippers and the smokers thinking you're making shit up to sound sophisticated. So yes, I too have given up on trying to convert people.

Funny thing is the gas stations around here can't keep Camel SNUS in stock.

My brothers wife actually thought that snus in general was an american concept (she's not real bright either) until she was "educated". She still will ONLY use Camel Frost though, even with mini mints and discreet laying about.

Can someone please explain to me why americans think EVERYTHING new on the US market is a local concept?

So my thoughts are that the general view of snus in the US and UK are probably much the same, it's a pity really.

So I just got back from talking with a girl I have a major crush on. She is a singer, and mentioned tonight that she really should quit smoking. I suggested snus. She is skeptical, but I insisted on giving her a package of Discreet the next time I see her. I think she will at least try it, as she is motivated a bit. She was worried the snus might irratate her throat and I told her I doubted it would (Can't say no definitely, cause as a singer, just don't know how sensitive she is).

So I will give her the Discreet at least, leave it in her hands.

But again, Tom, if you are out there. Thank you for giving me a choice that I know is so much more accessible for the average person who isn't committed to really trying snus yet. I giver her Swedish, I am sure she would spit it right out. But a Peach Discreet?? Maybe she will think it's not that bad.

But again, in general, I never try to convert. But Hannah is just a unique case. BTW, finally heard her sing last week and this girl has the voice of a Goddess. One day, I will be able to say I knew her back when. Now she just has to dump the boy she has been dating for two months who last week she spent 20 minutes telling me why he was so wrong for her.

The snus can't possibly irritate her throat any more than smokes do.

My experience has been, if they're telling you how much their boyfriend sucks, it's game on for you.

It is fascinating to know that the views across the water are exactly the same.....................but if snus can get you a 'broad' - that's pretty unbeatable.

Same here. If anything, I'm usually spending more time defending myself than converting anyone. Ehh whatever.....more for me. 8)

LOL, I am being ubber cool.

We have a connection, that much I know. And she has gone from telling me she had a boyfriend 3 weeks ago, to calling him her 'sorta' boyfriend 2 weeks ago (Something i called her on), to telling me a week ago how bad he was for her.

But so what? If I have learned anything since i got back into this scene after Laura left, i have learned to not believe anything a woman says until her actions match her words.

but I am pleased now that I have an opportunity to be in her world every week. She sings a couple of times a week, and I will ALWAYS be there now when she does. And if I have shown myself to be anything here on Snuson, I am a better cheerleader than just about anyone when i find something that is truly good. Already playing that role for her now.

So we see where it goes. At the worst, I have discovered new music that is fantastic. If that is all I get out of this, then fine. And if more, that would be wonderful. What I am most grateful these days, is Hannah got me out of the house, got me going out, really for the first time since my divorce. HUGE deal for me. So I am good regardless of what happens with this.

And dupee419, I agree with you. But have been disappointed enough these past 2 years. let's just say I am reserving final judgment on that. but she knows I am interested in her as a person, knows I think she is beautiful, knows that I live up to my word,am where I say I will be every time. i don't need to do anything else now but just be there when she finally does decide she wants more. I am available if that is what she wants, but don't have to push a thing. really, for me right now, the perfect place to be.

No offense intended to the female members here, but ain't that the truth? Especially in that kind of situation.

She sings the Blues. Just finally starting to work on her own material.

She told me last night that a producer who has worked with Van Morrison heard her and wants to put a band together for her and record her. Already, she won a competition a few weeks ago and now is going to this big national competition in Nashville in January.

Most amazing thing, she just started singing seriously a few months ago. NO training. She just has the most amazing voice. I had heard she was good, but was unprepared for when I finally heard her. I literally got chills down my spine as I knew that she could one day be something big.

But she has a great head on her shoulders. Knows the chances are slim, but just keeps taking that next step with no fear. A remarkable woman, why I am as interested as I am.
