    HELP BRING BACK OUR LUCKIES!

Hey, if we want Luckies back in the US maybe a grassroots effort mentioned by Snusdog in another thread could work. Here's where one could go to email for this. F&L was bought out by BAT and I got this from the corporate website.

    Lucky Strikers UNITE!

    Bat

    Here's what I sent:

    Hello,
I have been enjoying Copenhagen snuff for some 30 years and have just recently tried Swedish Snus. Of the 21 varieties in my initial order Lucky Strike portion was by far my favorite. I tried to order 2 rolls only to find they can't be sold in the US due to trademark regulations.
Is it possible you could use the same recipe and packaging and simply relabel the packaging? Perhaps use the same colors and replace the "Lucky Strike" with a stylized "?".
On the snus forums there are a lot of Luckies fans who share my disappointment and would strongly support this move.

    Best Regards,

    Additional contact site

I just found this after googling Fiedler & Lundgren AB. Looks like the
manufacturing site. Here's the contact page:

              Here's mine:

I started using Swedish snus about 10 months ago and one of my favorite brands was Lucky Strike snus which I bought through Northerner.com and BuySnus.com.

I do understand RAI has exercised their legal claim to the US trademark pertaining to sale of Lucky Strike to customers in the USA.

I would like to see the creation of a new "Fiedler & Lundgren export" brandname utilizing the same formulations but sold under the new brandname to the export market for sale to the USA.

Fiedler & Lundgren could utilize the old Pall Mall or older Retro snus containers so the only additional expense would be the creation of new labeling. Using Fiedler & Lundgren as part of the name would give instant brand recognition and minimize the cost of new artwork.

There is an oppourtunity here in the states to establish new smokeless tobacco products. Due to new Federal and state taxes here in Florida sales of cigarettes have declined 28% compared to last year during the month of July.

A rebranded Lucky Strike snus for sale to the USA could fill a niche to satisfy the demand for new smokeless products for people who are motivated to find an alternative to their smoking habit and also create a loyal customer base to improve chances of success should BAT at some later date decide to do a national rollout of snus in the USA.

I hope you find my suggestions helpful.

Glad to see the movement is under way. Here is my email

                To whom it may concern,

I am very disappointed to see that Lucky Strikes snus is no longer available for sale to the United States. I understand that there is a conflict over the brand name. Is there any way to change the labeling and thereby avoid the conflict? You could call it “Fortuitous Hits”. Regardless, I believe there is a strong following for the snus and it is a shame to see its availability restricted. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

                Regards,
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I sent both BAT and F&L an email the week they stopped selling Lucky to the US asking what their plan was regarding this issue, what I got in return from both was not very promising, pretty much the PR equivalent of tough shit.

My reply from F&L is in this thread on page 3.

                        http://www.snuson.com/viewtopic.php?...ckies&start=40

My reply from BAT was so short and pointless that it wasn't even worth posting. However they told me that if I wanted change I would have to contact RJ Reynolds and for some reason I dont think they are going to be that receptive to us wanting to get our tobacco from someone other than RJR.

I support this effort but in all reality they most likely aren't going to repackage and rename Lucky just to sell it in the US. I think their stance is that snus isn't popular enough in the US to warrant the cost and effort to repackage it just for one country. Let us hope that assumption is incorrect.

                          Ummm...

                          Ever heard of Rothbrix?

It could happen. You never know. It has before.

Easy bro, I said I support doing this...

Its just that given the somewhat unenthusiastic response I got from both F&L and BAT I was simply saying that I wasn't going to get my hopes up. My reason being that when you ask the manufacturer what they are going to do and they tell you to contact the people who are blocking the sale in the first place that doesn't really do much for me in the hope department. Also I think I added enough disclaimers to make it clear that I hoped that was not the case. Not trying to piss anyone off here just stating my opinion.

That being said I will write as many emails as I can to help out with this effort.

No, you're right. I wasn't trying to jump on ya man. I guess I've been a bit short in some of my latest posts.

By the way they responded to you it doesn't sound good.

                              I agree with your disclaimers.

I never really got that excited about this particular brand of snus.

I'm always sorry to see a snus become unavailable, especially when it's due to a corporate pissing match like this.

I feel bad for all of my fellow snusers who really liked Lucky and Camel etc..

The bright side is that the snus market is anything but stagnant.

I hope each and every one of you can find another brand to hang your hat on.

If the chance is there to get your fav. back then best wishes. Maybe they will re-brand it for you. If they don't, chances are good something new will come out some day that you will like.
