    Moment of Weakness

After chain snussing sterks for three weeks straight, off the smokes after 14yrs,all of the sudden I started eye-balling my girlfriends cigs and I really wanted one. Then,I realized I'd been so busy with the kids I hadn't had a snus in 2 hours!Nicotine addiction is a strange beast.I was instinctively thinking I wanted a smoke but really just needed a "fix".I quickly grabbed an Oden's ES and everything was cool. That was close. If I hadn't quit smoking I surely would have died from it.Snus FTMFW.

PS-Just ordered my first can of nasal snuff (Toque Quit). Can't wait to see what this stuff is all about.

I wonder what it´s like to smoke....
Well I´m not gonna find out

Glad you get what you need from the fine tradition of snusing
I´m happy for all my american snusers they have discovered it, hope more will keep doing so.

Snuff is definitely different. I don't find it to have that noticeable a nicotine hit, but I find it's potentiated with snus. On the up side, it does smell considerably better than snus.

I just went through the same thing. Been off the smokes for a week or so now and I have been chain snusing all of the different kinds that I got. Well, I had dinner about an hour and a half ago and a half hour before that I had taken out my last snus. I just had a huge urge to smoke a cig and realized that I didn't have a snus in.

          Re: Moment of Weakness

I had three today - my 4th, 5th, and 6th smokes of the week since Tuesday morning. I got my first can of snus ever on Monday night. Not sure why, but I just wanted a smoke instead of a snus - I think it is my gums irritating me a bit as happens to all of us the first few days (it's much better today by the way) but this morning, I just wanted smokes instead.

However, don't feel bad about your choice to skip them, just those three this AM have me feeling like utter crap. I can really feel it in my lungs. Back on the snus and no desire now. Snus really offers a much better delivery of vitamin N I think - it's more steady and enjoyable.

I still smoke every once in a while when that is what i want to do. For me, one of the greatest pleasure of snus now is my ability to occasionally have a cigarette when I WANT, not when I NEED. That occasional cigarette won't lead to another. It just becomes a thing unto itself.

The few times I have had women in my life these past two years, if they smoked, I suddenly started having 5 -6 cigarettes a day. If I am around a smoker, I want to share that experience. As soon as the women were gone, no longer had any desire for cigarettes, except my normal once a month again.

              That's the beauty of snus.

Falling off the wagon and having one cigarette doesn't automatically cause a relapse and return to my 2-3 pack a day habit. Now if I choose to have a cigarette it's because I enjoy it, not because I'm addicted.

I would call that a moment of strength, considering you didn't give in to the temptation!

Way to go, and keep up the good work! 8)

Yesterday/last night I had band recording, which didn't go so well, it's such a pain, the recording process, but we did get the drums tracks down at least. But I took with me Catch Eucalyptus, which I like. Now, everyone else in the band smokes, except our engineer, but he doesn't hang out with us really. Normally I would have smoked, but I kept a snus in, and even gave one to a bandmate, and he said it was OK. We then picked up beer and went to one of their places, now being around 3 smokers, and with beer, I would have most definately been smoking, but I just kept a snus in, replacing when needed, and did not, and did not even want to, smoke at all, and I was pretty drunk too.

Same thing for me. I still like the occasional cigarette. When I'm hanging out with a bunch of smokers, I usually bring along a pouch of rolling tobacco just in case the urge arises. I usually wind up having three at most. As soon as I get back home by myself, I grab the Ettan loose and my Icetool and the urge to smoke completely vanishes until I hang out with those people again.

I have a hard time being at the bar and not having a few cigarettes. I have to have a cigarette with my first beer. After that, I usually stick to the snus. I like being able to put in a portion while I'm playing pool and watch all the smokers get smoke in their eyes.

I don't see a problem with having the occasional cigarette or cigarettes. They're a nice treat.

Same goes for pipe and cigars. Smoked tobacco will never completely vanish from my life, but I try to restrict it to being an occasional thing I enjoy and then put away. Snus is my main vice as far as tobacco is concerned.

That last drinking night, I mentioned here above, I gave my smoker buddy a Catch Eucalyptus, and he said it was OK. The next day I talked to him, he told me he bought a tin of Camel Snus, but he hadn't tried them yet. I told him the difference between real Swedish snus, but he said the sweet snus sounded more appealing to him, and he wanted to try the Camels. He has said he wants to quit smoking, plus he smoked Camel cigs which I guess are 4-5 bucks a pack these days. I told him I'd give him these Discreet snus I have, as the flavors sounded good to him, so if anything, these US snus are a gateway snus to Swede snus. I'll give him my General mini-mint samplers too.

This past weekend, I was at my parents house with my nieces and my nephew around. I try not to let them see me using any kind of tobacco products, so I wasn't able to get as much snusing in as I would have liked. I started to get some cravings, but for the first time, I was craving snus instead of cigarettes. Before, I have cravings and want to smoke, but now when I have cravings, I want to stuff my lips full of tobacco.

I'm pretty sure smoking is behind me for good. It will be four weeks on thursday and it has really been easier than I would have ever imagined.
