See, folks? There's no reason to panic right now. Save some snus for the rest of us, will ya?

      look:
      http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cf...s-000003141184

      but i want to note:
The new oversight would be funded by user fees on tobacco companies and importers, likely causing an increase in the price of cigarettes and other tobacco product.

so a new department funded by the importing of tobacco. doesn't sound like this is going to shut down snus importing.

Yup, that's the problem. They can also do as they please barring laws that specifically forbid them from doing so(good luck with that)

Under this law all snus that isn't straight tobacco flavored will be banned. Even Grov and General won't be the same because lemon is on the list of banned flavorings.

I've only been paying a little bit of attention, as I don't think anything I do short of taking up arms will affect government. I seem to remember there being an exclusion that allows flavors in traditional smokeless tobacco. I may very well be wrong, and I can't be arsed ATM to try tracking it down, but that could be good for us. If anything else that's a good reason to stick to the basics instead of wanting a chocolate cream puff cherry fizz snus :^D We don't need any negative attention put on our products.

Just a little perspective folks. ALL this does is control what is made here. Has NO impact on what is made in Sweden.

The ONLY bill that might really affect us is the PACT act, that will ban tobacco from being mailed through the US Postal service. And even that is very unclear if it will effect us. Reports that I have read say that private carriers have "agreed" not to send tobacco as well, but the bill doesn't regulate them the same way.

My best advice is to just chill. Whatever significant changes have a long way from going into affect, will have to clear court challenges, etc. In no way does the passing of this bill mean that we suddenly can't get snus.

Pop you favorite snus in and hum a relaxing tune.

The FDA can ban imports if it chooses to do so. It isn't *right now*, but tomorrow's a different day....
