no one is pulling anything! Don't worry. Laws like this are made up by the house all the time, to keep the anti tobacco lobbyists happy. Then it goes to the senate, who never will pass it. This is such standard law practice, and at least one is proposed a year along with other laws that will never get through the senate. Snus will be around for awhile.

                k. but i don't want a-holes messing with this stuff out of ignorance. this is probably the best goodness we can get out of tobacco, it transcends vice into enjoyment. the stuff is just good, i haven't even had the real mccoy. on a side note, reading about the swedish stuff, i do not think i will be able to wait until the samples get here (4-6 weeks). i'm reading about the saltiness factor and that is right up my alley. i will probably take a pot shot in the dark after i read some more here.

This legislation has been passed back and forth since 2003, yet never by both the House and Senate in a single session. Big US tobacco wants it, the government needs the revenue and it will probably pass this year.

Interesting that while the act prohibits the U.S. Postal Service from delivering cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, it provides no such prohibition on the delivery of cigars.

Read this bill, it even mentions terrorism. For now, get your orders in and contact your senator to voice your concern.

If it passes the Senate, contact the president, blog about this, whatever. If he sees fit to still sign this bill then....

Everyone save your used snus pouches... it will be time for our own brand of snusbagging.

No. I will NOT calm down when people blatantly lie or manipulate the truth here. If you haven't learned that about me yet, you will!!

                        Right on, Sage.

I just sent an e-mail to John Cornyn (Texas). I really don't think this thing will pass, but an e-mail can't hurt.

I just spent about an hour typing emails to everybody I can think of who could affect this thing. Sucks that Feinstein and boxer are included, as both are vile, horrible people who not only don't care about the residents of California, but legitimately hate them. I emailed Obama as well expressing my disapproval. I will send more emails tomorrow regarding this, but for now I gotta get some sleep.

Furthermore, I don't think this will pass, however , there is a chance. I think that it's our duty, regardless of personal feelings on the chance of passing, to speak up to whomever will listen.

The odds of a few letters affecting this law seem terrible. I hope that people remain ignorant about the existence of smokeless tobacco where I live.

Better suggestion for US-based snusers: spend your vacations in Mexico, and have it delivered there (or in the Bahamas, Dom Rep etc.)

Unfortunately, my idiot senator introduced the bill. Not much chance of changing his mind. I presume the other idiot Feingold is on board with this too.

I contacted that professor in Louisville who does all the research on tobacco, and he said that nobody listens to him either!

Dammit! This is something that affects us all as a snus community! Just take Sage and Chadizzy's advice and do anything you possibly can to ensure that this doesn't pass. This whole "what's one email gonna do attitude" is what has our election screwed up today!

So stop the mudslinging and fingerpointing and come together as a community and do what we can to stop this ignorant bill from passing!

*grabs the hand on the person on either side of me* Kumbaya my lord, Kumbaya!
