    Swedish-snus/Northerner.com

I'm assuming that Swedish-snus.com and Northerner.com are somehow affiliated, and I,m basing this assumption on the fact that the order I placed with Swedish-snus came out of the bank as Northerner. Ok here' my gripe, I placed the order this past thursday before lunch. The money came out of the bank on friday, yet my shipment is still listed as pending. Not only that, but they've also taken an unauthorized $1.84 out of my account! Has anyone else experienced these type problems with either site?

The extra money isn't really "unauthorized" It is a currency transaction fee, you will see it or something like it from anyone in Sweden you buy from.

And yes, it is Northerner. Like Snus central is really Buysnus.

As for the pending issue, Northerner doesn't change the status to shipped until the day after it has been shipped. Don't know why, but just know it is. So probably already shipped, and you will see it as shipped no later than tomorrow my guess.

Orders placed on the 20 to 24 of May, will be sent on the 25 of May, due to Swedish Holiday.

Thanks guys! That clears a lot up for me! I've been ordering from Getsnus, and speed/customer servicewise they are awesome! I was just wanting more of a selection, so I ordered from overseas. I really didn't know what expect with the shipping, so thanks for the info!

I guarantee it has already been shipped, should show same tomorrow. And the currency charge is the same no matter what you order from anywhere that uses a different currency. I get the same when I order snuff from Toque.

Transaction fee? News to me. I've never had anything like this come out of my account when i purchase from buysnus. I haven't ordered from Northerner in a couple of years but I don't recall anything like that coming out of my account then either.

Maybe I just have an awesome bank?

I get it with both Buysnus and Northerner. And Toque as well.

Look at my statement on 12/16 and you will see it.

I just looked through two years of bank statements. I bank with Wachovia and have not been charged any kind of fee with buysnus ever. My last order with Northerner was in January 2008 and I wasn't charged a fee then either. The deducted amounts match the invoice totals perfectly.

I looked really hard to see if I was getting charged anything that may have been hidden in the fine print, but nada.

My girlfriend banks with First Citizens and she isn't charged anything either.

As you can see above, it is a separate fee, so of course, the charges from Buysnus and Northerner would match up.

Perhaps some banks don't charge it. Nevertheless, my original point is still valid. it is an expected charge (with some banks) for doing business in a different currency, and not an "unauthorized" charge.

I remember when I used a Maestro/Mastercard debit card in Spain a few years back for a Euro purchase I was charged a foreign transaction charge of £1.50 and then also approx 2.75% comission was added to the tranasaction itself.

Luckily for me my new Visa debit just adds the 2.75% comission charge. Maybe it depends on the card and bank?

My bank started charging me a fee. And it is a Bank Fee, not a fee from Northerner. I think the last one was $1.09 for a $36.00 order.

This is a hot topic as a few of our customers are saying their banks don't charge them a currency fee. What's more interesting is they are all American banks.

I spoke to our bank and they say this is down to the fact that very few Americans travel abroad and some American banks simply miss or forget to charge.
