Phantom Blue has ruined Ettan for me?

Ever since trying a Phantom Blue portion I taste that flavour in Ettan. Ettan was one of my Original Favorites, but now, that pure tobacco tatse of Ettan reminds me of the blue and I just can't stand it. Anyone else find any similarities between Phantom Blue and Ettan?

I haven't had Phantom Blue portions, but I have had the Classic portions. Based on general familiarity with the V2 product line, I would say the only similarity is they're both typically used orally(I prefer to use Phantom portions as a trash can freshener :^P).

The only snus I've had that tastes remotely like V2 tobacco is from the Danish company Orlik. They only make lös AFAIK, but there's a similarity(Danish touch?) there somewhere, though I think Orlik is much better product.

I use the portions at times too. Rarely, but used nonetheless. I have always found the Blue to be more herbal and sweet. Ettan is earthy and mellow.

But hey, I have heard people find flavors in things that I couldnt even begin to fathom how they tasted it (green apple in Grov for example).

I just tried Blue - and it doesn't remind me of Ettan (and I'm a portion user).

It's really weird, but when I put in Blue, I smell Windex....

I senced that as well but couldn't put my finger on it, but it does bring windex to mind.

I really like the Blue.

Heh. I heard the Windex comparison. I didn't believe it til I tried a can. The taste is better than the smell. To me the subtle sweetness and endurance of flavor is great.


I asked my wife to smell the can one day and she said, "Do you really put that in your mouth?"

As far as getting a similar flavor in Ettan, I don't. Not even the same category in my mind. Some people are hyper tasters. Not everyone has the same amount of taste buds. I reckon I'm on the low end of the scale. The years of smoking probably didn't help me either.

Yeah, I'm just coming off of smoking heavy too, so maybe my taste is messed up... I think it may be this, or something related to it. Ettan, for me, doesn't have the kick of others. I'm assuming that it's just a plain ol' tobacco taste. I don't get the salt kick, or a strong flavor from it. I do get flavor, but I'm thinking that it's probably the closest thing to just sticking straight tobacco in my mouth that I've tried.

Also, I only had the phantom blue in for like 2 minutes before I was done with it... But whatever it is, Ettan and Phantom blue both exhibit this flavor, whereas none of the others do really at all... Maybe if I give the phantom a longer chance I'd notice the difference, but I just don't think I can do it.

Also, I've got a can of Offroad plain, and I've smelled it, but not tasted it. It smells like the phantom did so I'm afraid to try it!

The only offroad I've tried is the wintergreen.

It has a sweet taste, not bad - I prefer General Wintergreen a bit more.
I have some other offroad in the freezer, it's on my try list.....

I've tried the Offroad Apple and, not what I was expecting. maybe it's just me but, I only taste the apple flavor when I take it out. :shock: Could be my taste buds haven't developed into "Snusbuds" yet as I am only a few weeks into real snus.

I think I was ther first one to compare Blue aromas to windex. It definately has a strange Windex scent, but the taste is incredible. The portions are far more one-dimensional. Very little tobacco taste, mild sweetness with a herbal note.

The Los has a fresh herbal sweetness (but not sugar sweet) with a nice tobacco flavor.

I will advocate V2 products until the day I quit snusing. The portions do have a strange funk to them, but they are useable in a pinch. The Los is truly an incredible, tasty product.

Many people try a can of portions and expect the world of them. Folks, you are buying a low-dollar product. Don't buy a Hyundai (which I actually drive) and expect the performance of a ferrari.

Offroad Portion products are great for people who do not like the taste of tobacco. Somehow in the processing of their portions, they really lose the tobacco flavor and take on a one-dimensional flavor profile.

The Loose is a totally different monster. In Blue, I taste herbs, juniper and tobacco. In Cranberry, I taste tobacco and cran. In Original I taste mild citrus, tobacco and heavybergamot... Whereas in Phantom classic, iot reverses from Offroad original. Classic gets a heavy peppery tobacco with bold citrus.

I could go on for days telling you why V2 makes an excellent product, but it will do no good. My tastes are different than everyone elses.

All I can say is that if the stuff "sucked" as badly as this tiny (what, 1000 member with maybe 1/4 of that active posters) group of the snus world saiud, V2 would be bankrupt.

People are buying it and ARE enjoying it.

So, like I've said many times before. If you are affraid to buy a can of Offroad or Phantom because of something you have read here... Just add a can to your next order. If you don't like it, take shorter showers for a week or skip on that latte on the way to work for a day to recoup the cost of that can.

Whats the worst that can happen? Hey... you may just like it! And if you do, tell people that you like it. Don't feel that you have to ride the "bash v2 bus"... Join me... On the Dark side!
