I have some Green Makla in now. It's really funky stuff and has a weird smell.

There's a good chance I'll have a can of Makla next week. I'll add my 2 cents when I get a chance to try it.

Well, I'm not a los fan, I don't like how it mashes in my teeth. But the Makla is not bad, it's just weird. It really has a funkyness about it. The Red Makla has a distinctive sting to it, the Green was more mellow. But when you put some of this in your mouth, you know you have something in your mouth, and it really has a nic hit. It's really hard to describe the flavor, it's very .... unique, the smell even more so. I can't say I don't like it, I've been using it about once a day. It does bake pretty easy. It's an interesting and different thing. Having had it though, I doubt I'd buy it myself. If someone like Toque made some, with hopefully a more standard tobacco taste, I'd get it to try it, but I'm not a fan of los in general.

I've only tried the red variety "Makla Bouhlel Bentchicou Rouge", which has some kind of chalk-like rye bread taste. It's hard to describe and very traditional for sure, probably the closest you can get to what the Indians chewed when Columbus first encountered tobacco. It's worth a try and the nicotine effect is second to none, but in the long run it's certainly only for fans or for people who grew up with the stuff, so to speak.
Cheers!

Makla at MrSnuff
Hi folks: as any snuffers know I run MrSnuff which is primarily focused on snuff, but on the rec of a member of both this forum and snuffhouse I am considering stocking Makla and I am wondering how much interest there is. My problem is that their minimum purchase for wholesale is quite substantial and I don't want to end up having to use it all myself (I could think of worse problems though it must be said).
There are five flavors. Are there any you would NOT want to try, and which would be your first choice?
Makla El Kantara Menthol
Makla Ifrikia
Red Makla Bentchicou
Green Makla Bentchicou
Makla African Platinium
Many thanks for your input.
Dave

I'd like to hear more flavor descriptions. I'm very interested in trying them but I would be steering away from any mentholated ones. Is the green a menthol or mint thing?

I made the recommendation to MrSnuff, because based on posts, it seemed to have some interest, especially being an obscure and hard to get item. It's basically like loose snus.
I've had the red and green types. The Green in not menthol, it was kinda mellow, but they do have a taste, but I really don't know how to describe it, but it wasn't bad, ooh blech, spit, it is unique, and very different, I'd never had anything like it. The Red had a burning sensation, which mellows after a while. But these things, after I hand baked a eh, average prilla, gave me a big nic hit, it was like maybe 2 thunders at ones, but like any nic product, after a few days in a row, that effect lessened.
I did not find these bad, flavor wise, just really unique, hard to put a label on. Strong nic effect. Easy to handback, but feel for stems, sits well in the mouth, did not mud mouth on me.
If I was a loose snus lover, I'm be more inclined personally, but I'm really not a looser, but I know many are. And being a unique tobacco item, I always find such worth a try just to try it.

tom is good example of the problem for the distributor. He was curious, he tried it and has no plans on becoming a regular user.
I was trying to get some Makla, a friend was going to bring back a can while he was visiting in Antwerp Belgium but he was told by the store salesman it is no longer legal to sell in Antwerp, so I came up empty.
I am curious to try it but I am not going to go out of my way to order it. I'm not going to place an order for Makla if it's the only thing on the order. Now, if I'm placing an order with Northerner for my regular snus and they had Makla, I'd add a can to my existing order.

They still don't have it for sale on Northerner.
I might try a can or two the next order (already place two this month and my snus stash is getting bigger)
I'm just afraid to order more. :P

Well, maybe my recommendation wasn't a good one. I figured something rare and odd, would arouse interest. Yes, I doubt I'd buy it myself, but that's because I generally don't care for loose snus, and I have tried it. But I know quite a lot of people do use loose snus, and have not had Makla. Makla must have it's fans and regular users, or it wouldn't be made. Maybe the interest in this stuff is less than I thought. I know MrSnuff had an idea to sell snus, I thought it best he offer some stuff that is not regularly available, I mean, why should he sell the General line? Makla is unique, and rare to get for most people(I think). It is an odd thing, and not like the traditional snus flavors at all.
