Don't want to speak for Duff but I imagine the taxes charged locally are also insane in New York. I Know in Chicago a pack of smoke is $11-12 I would imagine New York is More. So I would think a tin of Snus is probably pushing $8-10 so If he can buy from SC or BS in volume during a sale and pay around $4 it would make sense to me. Just saying...

Good point Blue, but I'm pretty sure that local pricing is in line with any online buying, once you factor in the high cost of shipping from Sweden. Not to mention, the wait, which isn't too bad with SC...but buying locally, gets your product immediately AND it supports a local business that has a vested interest in making snus a success in the US. Just saying... :-)Originally posted by Bigblue1Don't want to speak for Duff but I imagine the taxes charged locally are also insane in New York. Using Snuscentral>Buying local
Snuscentral gives you fresh snus and a great variety at a low price.
Local you get General for $8.00 a can and possibly a few other choices if you live near one of five shops that carry snus other than General....but snus that hasn't been refrigerated in God knows how long for $9.00 a can???? I'm sorry Rick, but if a store has snus other than general and it is hidden behind the dip cans in a place no one can see it, that is not a vested interest in bringing snus to the US.

It's a chicken/egg thing. Stores aren't inclined to pitch snus if people don't have interest. I wouldn't blow them off completely. The day may come when no one ships to the USA, and everything's black market. Some out of date General would be a welcomed addition. It wouldn't hurt to buy the occasional tin, or talk with the manager, and look into special orders so you get fresh snus.Originally posted by Duff338Using Snuscentral>Buying local

I would buy it locally but I don't know any place near me that sells snus besides camel or marlboro snus. I am not in Manhattan. And I can't get away from the tax no matter what i do. they always add tax charges onto my orders.. buying snus is becoming as expensive as paying full price for cigarettes in ny.. its just really obnoxious.

I appreciate what Rick & snus distribution are doing, my comments are directed towards the tobacco shop and the way they displayed or better yet hid the snus that was not general. All the snus from SD was behind the counter and wedged in the back of a dip display that is not viewable from the front side. Many of the cans where past BB.

I agree with that statement, and would like to know which store you are referencing, because they are supposed to be displaying the snus in a new acrylic counter top display and properly rotating stock. Perhaps the reason these guys have dated product is because they weren't displaying the product. PM the info and I'll have a conversation with this owner and get some fresh product out to them. Also, what "other" brands did they have and what was the exact retail cost. The reason I ask is that I KNOW what he/she paid for it and will know whether or not they are gouging the consumer. I can't dictate retail pricing, but I can make a "serious" suggestion, lol.Originally posted by Duff338Using Snuscentral>Buying local

Also, Snus distribution has no affiliation with the US distribution of Jak's, Oden's, Thunder or Offroad any longer. The www.snusdistribution.com site is owned by Northerner, who used to run the distribution for these brands. Frank did a great job getting this started, but we decided to use my current company (the largest distributor of specialty tobacco products in the nation) to take these brands to the "next" level. Frank still uses the snusdistribution site as a store locator, but my company will soon be launching their own, which will be update with ALL the shops that we add on a weekly basis.Originally posted by Duff338I appreciate what Rick & snus distribution are doing, my comments are directed towards the tobacco shop and the way they displayed or better yet hid the snus that was not general. Frank will continue to sell online through his sites, and of course I wish him well. The online sites introduce people to snus and it's been a key part in building all the snus brands in the US. Frank is a dear friend and I see him often when in town, and he's working on some good things people, so keep your eyes open ;-)
