So i quit smoking 2 weeks ago (not uncommon here) and started using dip till my snus came in (thanks storm and your youtube vids). Anyway i ****ing hate the texture of snus compared to dip hate it!!!. I tried a portion of one of my friends (he made an order when i did) it was great tasted the same (maybe a bit less flavor but beggars and choosers) and there was no slimy shit smear across my gums and lips.

Now yes snus is cheap as dirt i laughed when i saw the most expensive snus at buysnus.com was about 5 bucks. I buy a can of copenhagen long cut for $8 to $11 depends upon where i am at I would go threw 2 - 2 1/2 a day a can of los snus lasts like 3-4 days. So price means little to me.... or does it??
A can of los is usually the same price or just pennies more than portion where portion has half or even less the los snus. Thats the only thing putting me off the portion. I have no idea why, this is insane i am contemplating making another order (i am down to 10 tins and need to regroup quick).

My question is how long will a tin of portions last the regular joe? are portions worth it? will i get used to my mouth feeling like a dirty anus?

None of the lös is going to be like the texture of dip, but there are some more coarsely ground types (Gotlandssnus come to mind) and there is a great deal of variation in how different brands bake up. Some pack tight and stay tight, others do tend to "smear" somewhat. What type/s have you used?

Portion tins would probably last me about 2 days if I used them exclusively (I only use them at work) and there are some flavors I would buy regardless since they are only available in portion.

Well i have only boughten Skruf Strak Los, Knox Los, Granit Los. My next order for the Los side of thing i will get Grov, Montecristo, Offroad Long cut (hope the longer cut prevents some smearage), for shits and giggles Phantom Blue. Not sure what to order for portions was just thinking of getting the "Mix-portions" or was even contemplating "the mix loose and portion". Just wondering if you guys had some shitty luck with the mix mystery bundles or should i hand pick????

Some of the mixes that people have gotten lately have been really good, But hand picking, if you already have some ideas on what you want to try, is better.

I prefer portions much more than I prefer Los. That is me. I am not just that big of a fan having lots of tobacco in my mouth. But portions, I never mind those. I have gravitated over 16 months to portions that taste good to me, so taste isn't really an issue, I actually got less taste with Los often.

A tin will last me an average of 1 1/2 - 2 days, and I chain snus from morning till night. Yeah, I might save even more if I used Los, but I am already saving like 50%+ just by using portion snus over my cigarettes I used to buy. So I happy enough with that.

Yeah i am saving alot of money as well from dipping and smoking with the snus prices. I am hand picking since certain brands really don't appeal to me. I should just suck it up if a can of los lasts 3 days and a can of portions last maybe 2.

The point of snus is do what gives you the most enjoyment. For some that is Los, for me at least, that is portions. The rest is ALL good.

I had a good time determining what I liked in the beginning. Felt like a kid in a candy store when I went to order.

Now that I know my favorites, Ordering is a snap. Couple rolls of my favorites plus a few random cans for those times that I want a reminder why I love my favorites so much and im good to go.

Yeah i am a cheap prick. I love the taste of los, more tasty then portions i say **** the portions (**** you portions, you tempting bastards) i am not a flavored guy (i just tried some of buddys not good). I did try the phantom blue and well i like that shit alot gonna order some los.

Blue Los is 10x better than the blue portion. Try a can of classic los too.

I find that I get 3 days or so from a can of portions, and roughly 2 from los, even though the los has twice as much in content... the reason i believe is a pris of los lasts me about an hour before it starts to landslide on me, and a portion just dosent have that problem, 1 hour for a pris of los, 2 to 3 per portion.... it all comes out even ( actually slightly in favor of portions ) and for me, portions are just more convienant and reasonable, work place friendly if you will.....dunno man, everyone is different, do what works for you

I am the complete opposite. After I've had a portion in for about an hour, I get annoyed with the fact that I cant actually feel the tobacco in my mouth. I start squishing it, sucking it, etc... I usually spend a portion within 1-1.5 hours. With Los, I pack up 3 notches on my 5ml tool and I realize 4 hours later that I need a fresh pris.

Well, a can of portion last me about 6 days. Same goes for the los. I don't know why but a portion seems to keep me interested for much longer than the los. I can't drop a portion down under my tongue or suck on it like a piece of candy. I have so much los in my freezer and don't really know what to do with it since I have started enjoying the portions more and more. I don't know how some of you suck down a can in 2 days, but to each their own. I think if you find the right can of portion you may enjoy it for quite a long time. Retro, LD Blue comes to mind for a long lasting portion. I suppose if you are sucking down a can in 2 days you might as well be a cheap bastard. I am and I don't even go through the stuff that fast. It does last a much longer than dip. Speaking of dip, if you want to go cheap use Longhorn for $1.50 or less a can. Maybe it will cost you $3 if you are in a high tax state.
