From what I'm hearing the new general snus made for the American market is sweeter than most regular swedish snus... Why not give that a try. It also has a lower amount of nicotine than a regular portion as well.

Good luck, hope it brings you to try more and more as time goes on.

Real snus doesn't taste salty forever. You get used to the salt, and pick up the superior flavor that gets beaten into submission by the brands with artificial sweetener. Try a bunch of different kinds, and see what you like. The first portion isn't a good representation. You need a can+ to see what you really think.[/QUOTE]

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Now on my 6th can of Swedish Snus...The salt subsides after a while and I actually find it helps bring tha flavor out. Try General OP. Not as salty, great tobacco taste with some citrusy lemon/grapefruit thing happening in the background. That, and it's an Original portion so you get instant flavor gratification, which I quite dig. Also way less of a salt taste for me. They make this one in a mini too, if it's too much Nicotine for you. Goes GREAT with coffee, IMO.

Another big hurdle forme was, being a smoker, it took me a while to be able to actually taste the stuff. Now I know what all these crazy cats and kittens are talking about. Welcome Aboard, dude!

So, at the tobacconist today (unfortunately I forgot to write down the suggested brands) and they had the largest selection I've seen (only the second one). They had several Generals, Offroads and Thunder and Gotlandssnus. The woman there told me she heard better reports of General, but the Licorice Offroad (and I remembered the suggestion of Offroad) really appealed to me. Love it. I've decided I prefer los, as you can decide your portions and it's not as bulky. Perhaps a bit messier, but that's the only downside. I used a small portion, not a super strong flavor, but gave me a nice licorice taste and a pleasant buzz. With this experience, I think I'll try some los original and wintergreen of some of the other brands. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm glad I'm back on the snus caboose!
