    Sweet Swedish Snus?

Newb here. Tried Camel and Marlboro snus. Liked the taste, maybe a little sweet. But I heard Swedish snus blows the American brands away, so I sought out some General White Portion, thinking it would accurately represent Swedish snus. I didn't really like it at all. I didn't actually taste much besides salt. Waaayy too salty for my taste. The nicotine buzz was also a little too strong for me, but either way, I didn't enjoy the taste.

Can anyone recommend a Swedish snus brand on the sweeter side? Not too sweet or artificially sweet, but more sweet than salty.

    Welcome to SnusOn!

Real snus isn't supposed to be sweet at all imo, but there's some brands made for Americans you might like...

    Jakobsson's strong mint
    Jakobsson's strong wintergreen
    General mint
    General wintergreen
    Northerner snus
    Probably some Catch...

Real snus doesn't taste salty forever. You get used to the salt, and pick up the superior flavor that gets beaten into submission by the brands with artificial sweetener. Try a bunch of different kinds, and see what you like. The first portion isn't a good representation. You need a can+ to see what you really think.

Welcome to SnusOn JeBalles, and I remember my first portion like it was yesterday. I thought I'd dumped a salt shaker in my mouth, lol. lxskllr is right on, after a can or two, you'll never notice the salt again. Only the subtle flavors that you read about in the reveiws. Traditional Swedish snus is salty, but the brands that he recommended are also top notch Swedish brands, although not as salty.

I drank water or coffee constantly during my first month of Swedish snus, it helped with the saltiness and slight peppery feeling in the back of my throat. Keep at it, you'll find one that you love. Sample many flavors and let us know what you like or dislike and we'll be able to suggest others for your to try ;-)

Catch Pure Mint would be perfect for you. Not as weak as a mini, not quite as strong as a standard 8mg portion. Slim white portion and hardly any salt with a sweet mInTy! taste.

^ Like the other two said, the salt in snus will be less perceivable in time. Personally, I now can't stand snus that doesn't have an abundant flavor of salt. However, I would recommend trying Jakobsson's Mint, Wintergreen, or Original. Be warned though, they contain very high amount of nicotine. Other brands of snus that don't contain high levels of salt flavoring: Oden's, Offroad, Phanton.

I recently tried Goteborgs Rape #2. I found it to be considerably sweeter compared to General. It might be worth a shot. But, to repeat what others have said, it takes a bit of time to get used to the salt. I hardly notice it at all anymore.

Thunder Frosted Mini might be something to try too. It doesn't have that artificial sweetener flavor, but the mint taste keeps the salt and tobacco flavor from coming through much. Offroad Frosted could be tried as well if you prefer a normal sized portion. Both are supposed to have about the same amount of nicotine per gram.

Hmm, well it doesn't help that I'm such a light user then, huh? I'll work on the can I have and I'll look into those other brands, although the minty flavored one's don't really appeal to me. I like the tobacco flavor, but I just wish it were sweeter. At least, that's what I think. I'm used to the sweetness of tobacco smoke.

+1 Thunder isn't as salty, but still tastes great.

                    Gustavus
                    JTI Camel
                    Swedish Match Marlboro
All have a slightly sweet taste with the tobacco taste. Oh wait, we can't get them here.

Maybe Skruf? It has rose oil added to the recipe and it can be a little sweet.
Blue Ocean is slightly sweet as well.

Jaks classic strong may be right up your alley as far as taste, though the nicotine content in it would likely blow you away lol. Their regular strength classic is a lot more salty than the strong variety. To me it is the only non-minty snus I have had that I would classify as sweet, but it also has a nice tobacco taste complimented by citrus. It is like the others have stated though, just give it a little time and you won't notice the saltiness anymore. And...

                        Welcome to the forum!!

If you're looking for a tobacco flavor with a sweetness that's noticeable but not overpowering, I'd say Probe Whiskey is fantastic. I've only tried the los though so far, I read a review that said the portions weren't as good, but I say give it a shot.

I like Probe, but it's easy to burnout on the flavor. I like both the portions and los, but it's a very occasional snus for me.
