SnusX vs Gellivare vs swedsnus.nu vs Coobra vs Prillan vs Lindgrens vs Kungsnus vs...

I'm thinking about investing in a make your own snus kit (for los and portions), to reaaaally cut down costs, and I'm just thinking which one I should get.

Apparently there are a lot of options: I know that some of you have tried snusx, but a search for snussatser gave me a lot of results.

What are your experiences with DIY snus, how to store it for long term use, which aromas are best et cetera

I can only recommend based on reputation from my reading on the Scandinavian snus boards and the winner would be KungSnus.

Hello, im new on this forum, i felt i had to replay in this thread.

I make my own snus. I will probably never go back to the snus ive been using for 25 something years. I used to use General lös.

KungsSnus from www.snusfabriken.com is good. But the tobacco is so fine it tends to end up everywhere in your mouth after a while...
I personaly prefere one thats not mentioned earlier in the thread. Its Cuthof.
          www.cuthof.se or www.pgw.se.

Aromas i use is Bergamoth, some coffe and a little bit of cognac. It tastes great.

My last project is to get my snus to taste like Rapé, but i havent managed that yet..

FWIW, I suspect that post was spam. I left it cause I couldn't prove it, and the info might be useful for some. Anyway, i suggest weighting the advice accordingly, unless he comes back to clarify. I'm not sure what a tobacco cutter that makes ribbons suitable for cigarettes has to do with snus, but maybe I'm missing something in the translation....

Cuthof sells a snuspack too, if you click the UK flag, they only show one product, but in the Swedish version, there is a 0.5 or 1kg snuspack, aromas, and a snus can of the Gellivare shape, among other tobacco related products.

I don't think it was spam, i think he is legit.
I would say Cuthof is the 2nd most popular snussat in Sweden. PGW has their own less expensive house brand.
You can get all 3 of his choices from PGW. If I remember correctly they even had Lindgrens at one time.

Here's one of the Scandinavian forums where you will find discussions in Swedish on making snus:

Sorry if it sounded like a spam. I should have linked directly to the snuspacks.

Kungssnus is not bad at all. It has a good taste, almost better than Cuthof, its just that the tobacco is so fine grained (sorry if i type the english words wrong).

Kungssnus sells snuspack with the aromas in, Cuthof doesnt. I you buy Cuthof you have to order some aromas of your own liking.
I have tried 2 differenet Kungssnus. St Bernard and Re. St Bernard has i realy good taste and smell and felt strong in nicotine.
                        Re was bleh..

And yeah i use the Specialstärkelse. The recipy betwen the 2 are a bit different.
I dont have the recipies in front of me, but i can see if i can check the difference.
Cuthof is made in 95 degrees celcius and Kungssnus was made around 80-85. Im gonna try that with my next Cuthof pack, because it taste a wee bit of burnt..

I hope this helps. I think making snus is fun!

Is St. Bernards like General or Granit in taste?
To what factory snus would you compare the Kungs snus grain, I mean how fine is it in comparison to other snus?

I never tried Granit. But St Bernard is alot like General Lös.

Its maybe like Göteborgs Prima Fint or Röda Lacket in the grain. Its a long time since i tried those tho..

Oh, and if you make your own snus (wich i think you should try), use less water then it says. Maybe as much as 1 decilitre less.
Its alot easier to add some afterwards then it is to dry it out.

Remember to store it a week or 2 cold. It changes alot in taste and smell from that you take it out of the owen and until its stored properly. Its pretty harsh the first few days..

Im using up my Kungssnus St Bernard now. 1 got maybe 0.5 kilogram left that i need to use up!
Then 2.5 kg Cuthof is waiting
