I got number 16. White portions with a caramel-like sweetness, but not too sweet. Just a hint of smokiness, and the flavor of root herbs. Reminded me very much of sarsaparilla (also spelled sasparilla) or old-fashioned root beer. Nice nicotine level, too. I enjoyed my sample very much, and I hope they let us know if/when these products go into regular production.

Oh this is bad.....

So I got #1.

Upon opening the pouch, I was hit with a sweet-spearmint smell, identical to camel frost. The portion is a very stiff, rough, white pouch, which upon folding, the end busted open much like the infamous General Wintergreen. Looking at what was inside, it looked like cigarette tobacco, just slightly more moist.

The taste? Well, it tastes like.......nothing. Bitter old slightly minty cardboard maybe? Really, really bitter. And gross. Tastes nothing like the smell. Makes a camel sound really good right now. I can't think of anything this tastes "like". I doubt I'll even try a second one, it's that bad. It's now been 20 minutes and the bitterness is killing me!

Complete fail. Utter and total, just fail.

Been 30 minutes now, and it just keeps getting worse. Anyone else get this one? Did I just get a (really) bad pouch? I can't see how any company would think this is ok. I would rather chain snus Level.

Ok- 40 minutes and I'm done! I will never put this in my mouth again. Imagine the most bitter thing you've ever had in your mouth...... And amplify that by 20. And it only got worse as time went on. And I'm honestly trying to be subjective here.

Why the he'll would a company that deals in REAL Swedish suns try to immitate the crap that is made in the US??!! And then completely and totally FAIL at even that?? I am flabbergasted.

EDIT: Ok, I have given it the ol' college try, four portions. All four just as bad as the last. No snus can be this bad on purpose. I am completely convinced I got a bad batch, and will stay thinking that until I hear someone elses review of #1.

Root beer flavors typically have some small amount of methyl salicylate in them (Wintergreen) so maybe this is an attempt at that and also would explain the similarity to General Wintergreen that Owens187 documented. Doesn't Camel have a Winterfresh?
