I'll give both Skoal and Marlboro's new snuses a try. Can't promise I'll do it with optimism though... I think the lady who came on here asking us what we like most about Swedish snus back 4 or 5 months ago saying she worked for an american tobacco company was from Altria. So keep this is mind on the new Marlboro red snus. They may have listened.

Let me just throw this in that I forgot to mention. If Marlboro red doesn't have any sweeteners in it and has a tad of salt instead it will be a winner in my book. But again, little optimism.

What I am impressed about, is the size of the Skoal snus.. 1.1 gram per pouch, thats bigger than a typical Swedish portion.

I will probably try the Marlboro "Red" snus out of curiosity and the fact it will be promo-priced when it first comes out. Hopefully I will be impressed, but I won't be surprised if it tastes like the current Marlboro Rich snus in a larger portion.

I am still going to try this crap.

What boggles my mind is why they dont use us as a testing panel.

Altria and RJR are hoping for sales that would dwarf our little Swedish fishpond. Hence they are more likely to test their products on smokers but not veteran snus users who's "tastes" are unlikely to match the target market. Camel might make an adequate "introductory" snus if the product line expanded into more adult snus user territory. Marlboro ought to just ashcan their current abomination and start from scratch. Perhaps they have but few here have high hopes. Skoal's initial efforts went rapidly bust so maybe they've seen fit to shed a little Swedish light on their new version. Guess we'll see but jeez people enough with the freakin' MINT!

Place by work is advertising both as 'coming soon'. Marlboro I have no intention of trying, but I'll definitely try the Skoal. Considering how much their current products cost though (both 'premium' brands) they probably won't be worth the cost.

Most users of dip tobacco prefer mint and wintergreen flavors. However, I hope PMUSA releases a natural/classic flavored snus.

Skoal Mint is exactly the same as the old Skoal Mint, just in a bigger pouch. Apparently it was the only one of the original three (Citrus, Cinnamon and Mint) that got positive feedback. It seems more moist than the original. The Wintergreen tastes exactly like regular Skoal Wintergreen dip, just a little sharper.

The Marlboro Red is supposed to be a "toned down" version of the Rich. What "toned down" means is anyone's guess. It's probably got less sweetness.

We have an "inside man" who leaked some early product to us for (ahem) journalistic purposes. Said source is trying to locate some of the Marlboro garba-- uh, sorry, snus for us to sample.

You can expect more new products from the American snus makers in 2011. Some of it sounds promising, some of it not so much. Whether these products ever see the light of day depends a lot on the success of the new Skoal and Marlboro snus. Altira has a lot riding on this $nu$, if you catch my drift.

Exactly like the old skoal snus... wonderful, that means it is dry as all hell, and contains a microgram of nicotine... **** american tobacco.

Now he did say they were bigger and more moist, both of which mean more available nicotine. Not saying I think it will be good though... Ill try Marlboro Red and the new Skoal Wintergreen.

I don't know if the Wintergreen passed the preliminary testing stages or not, but it was one of the flavors that we received. It may or may not make the final cut.

I don't know what the Smooth Mint tastes like; we never received any of it.

Final cut? These new Skoal's are ready to go Jan 11. So far we have Mint and Smooth Mint. So WG probably did not make it.
