Loose Snus seems to dry out fast

OK I typically use Los with portions around mostly for when I just can't use los due to convenience or discretion. Call it an 80/20 mix.

Anyway I store my snus in the freezer (los and portions) in a single freezer bag that I do my best to manually remove the excess air from. I remove them from the freezer to the fridge a day before I need them for usage. That being said once I am using them they are with me when I am out, back in the fridge when I am home. I tend to go through a can of los in about a week, my portions in about 3 weeks, really varies though, particularly with portions.

I have been finding that by the time I am down to just my last third to a 1/4 of the snus left, what remains is really dry. Now all the los I have used so far are swedish match products so it is the waxed cardboard case thing. I tend to have to hydrate them a bit and well I am wondering is it just the way it is or is maybe the back and forth to the fridge thing causing it. Example though, I had to rehydrate my can of grov last night. I had opened it on Monday, it kind of travelled with me as I thought I would run out of ettan and need it so it was unrefigerated for about a week before this point. The expiration is November. The same thing has occurred for me with Ettan and General los. Also with a tin of probe, but it was so close to the expiration date when I got it from Northerner that I sort of chalked it up to that as it was kind of dry from the get go.

I sometimes use my empty Ettan can for my homemade snus. It's the cardboard/wax container that is causing most of your problem. I add distilled water to mine to keep it moist. If you transfer it to a plastic can then the problem goes away.

Tradition. Honestly, I prefer paperboard. It isn't as good for keeping snus, but I like the traditional aspect. That said, Gotland tins are tits. They're the best out there for keeping snus in good shape. Everybody should get at least one, even if they don't like the snus so they can reuse the tin.

I was lucky enough to get one can of gots flader from a trade... I love the design of the can and was planning on using it over and over.. It's like snus tupperwear.

Edit - I actually like the taste of flader, looking forward to trying the other flavors.

I Don't think it is cheaper. If it were all your bargain dip here in the states would be in fiberboard. The only one that comes in fiberboard can is copenhagen. The oldest and most premium dip there is. Even Copenhagen's lesser varieties came in plastic cans for awhile. I'm with LX, it's tradition. Copenhagen would make a ton more money if they put it in plastic. Shelf life would be longer, so they wouldn't take back as much product. But another reason, could be flavor. Ask any soldier who buys their copenhagen over sees on military basis where it comes in plastic cans and they will tell you there's a difference in the flavor......

There's only a few reasons to its dryness...

Either you leave the can open for a long time.
You open it too many times a day...

And obiviously it will dry out in 2 - 3 months if you're not using it.

Just add 4 - 5 drops of water and gently stir. It'll be like new.
