My foray into snus began when a new friend at my then-new job told me about it. I remember not understanding him at first, thinking it was not tobacco but an herbal blend with nicotine added to it lol. Anyway this friend also encouraged me to start jogging with him. The first time I went I barely ran a mile and felt like I was going to die. This was at a gym on a treadmill. Afterward I showered up and walked outside and lit up a cig. My lungs already hurt from running for the first time in 10 years, and smoking a cigarette seemed like the most ridiculous and harmful thing I could do right that moment. I was determined to keep running and get healthy, so when I got back to work I went to Northerner and ordered one of their sampler boxes.
By the time it got to my house, I had already started what was becoming a jogging routine, and I was so happy to have an alternative to cigs that wasn't hard on my lungs, not to mention expensive and stinky and inconvenient... I put in an Ettan portion and just fell in love with snus right from the beginning. As I recall, quitting smoking was no trouble at all, I felt like snus was cheating because it was so easy. It felt so good to leave the cigs behind, regain strength in my lungs and my sense of smell and taste, and dammit my clothes smelled good at the end of the day
So I'm not saying you should start exercising or anything, just relating my story of how having an added incentive made it one of the easiest things I've ever done, and one of the best decisions I've ever made. Cheers, welcome to snus.
