    Ken, I get your point.

    People usually don't go online, buy books to educate themselves that is why they continue to smoke. An addicted brain is just like a mental illness, where basically the smoker/alcoholic/gambler/narcotic user has an illusion. These type of addicts aren't even aware that they're harming themselves and continue doing it regardless of how bad/sick they feel.

    Nicotine is a powerful substance, highly addictive, nearly as addictive as heroine, it changes the way you reason/think/react in a bad or good way, it depends.

    My point is that some people just become self-destructive, I know I was the same. (smoking,alcohol,benzos,hookers and gambling) - quit them all.

    Why? It's a vicious circle, where you get hooked up and basically don't even realize in what dangerous game you are.

    I've seen people in the hospital with liver cancer than were leaving their room and drinking beers in pub near the hospital, I've seen people that had neck cancer and barely were able to talk and were smoking on the hospital's hallways without giving a damn about their life. It's called self-destruction, usually has something to do with a mental illness or even a pathological additional behavior.

    Addictions are addictions, there's no way out but quitting them, no matter what they addiction it is.....

    There's people drinking 4 - 5 beers a day and they don't consider themselves alcoholics (false) they are alcoholics.

    I am aware of people gambling as much as 20K a month and they are basically in a "cloud" of confusion of what they're doing with their life and end up in special therapies that most of the times are useless.

    The only way to quit an addiction, is to QUIT IT. (period)

    the faster the better, until that addiction doesn't kill you :-)

    What strength snus do you have in asleep Lx? I find skruf Mellan or a mini does the trick. As for Ettan and coffee, well I'm in total agreement, wonderful combo! (almost as good as ld black and chai tea )

I could have had one today, but - even though for me it is not taboo - it simply doesn't appeal, and I'm not short of nicotine anyway.

    I am enjoying a Jaks Wintergreen as I type (they arrived safe mate thanks). I agree entirely, it is a transition, one I am still in, I had 1 cigarette today on the way home from work. All day I just had snuff (forgot my snus!) and I was fine, gradually reducing the tabs and replacing with either a pinch of snuff for the minor cravings, or F&T Old Paris for an instant nic hit, then snus for the rest.     I spontaneously quit smoking within one month after starting Swedish snus. This was not the case with gum, patches, e-cigs, bupropion, or peer pressure. Turns out a nicotinized salt lick was what I really wanted, plus it's another outlet for pointless assonance:

    My goal is for an oral solace -- hence this salty lös bolus.

    As far as quick nic hits go I've found that most of the Thunder line hits very fast, usually within a couple of minutes max. They don't have the staying power of Odens but they sure seem to do the job for those random cig cravings. Thunder Raw works the same way, sometimes too hard and fast for me, but if you can tolerate it you sure as heck won't need a smoke for a good while.

    This is excellent advice. I did much the same, no smoking except in the car. Absolutely no beating up on myself for having a cig either. Took a few months but knew the corner was turned when one day I chose a snus instead of a smoke because I really wanted the snus instead. Got down to having one cig a week on Friday evening and just did not enjoy it. Snus FTW.

    Same here lx, I rarely smoke a cigarette, I will probably smoke one every two weeks or maybe a cigar. It doesn't have to be a habit after all..........

    and IMO just one one or two cigarettes per month can't hurt you.

    Smoke a cigarette when you want a cigarette. You don't have to do it all at once. Start replacing the times you like to smoke with snus. There's no reason you can't sleep with snus in. I do, and it gives you great dreams. An added benefit is you don't wake up nic-ing out. For nicotine NOW, you just need some self control. Ten minutes is nothing, and you'll get it soon enough.
