    bleeding gums murphy

I am a chain snusser....I pretty much have one in every waking hour......3 years now......I have never had a problem before...snus helped me kick a pack a day habit...I am heavily addicted to snus...Tried snuff...Snus works for me....Today (with a prilla of kronan los in......( after a morning of Thunder and Phantom white portions)..I spit out the prilla and noticed my gums were bleeding profusely...My oral hygiene is good (I floss regularly)....Has this happened to anyone else?...Obviously I cut back ...... moved the next portions to a different place in my mouth....It has not happened since..I think I was using the same spot too much..Does this make sense ?...I would hate to try to quit snus...Quitting smoking with snus was a blessing...It would be hard to stop...Comments?...Thanks , Red

Nah, that's never happened to me. The surface of my gums have gotten very sensitive, but no blood that I know of. Was it coming from the surface of the gum, or from the socket?

Ignore it. And drink some moonshine, that will take the evil out of it. And if you go to a dentist he will just tell you to stop using snus, so don't do that.

Then again, if you want advice that seems like it came from somewhere other than the nineteenth century, you should probably go to a dentist.

It could be from the snus, but that sounds like gingivitis. It wouldn't hurt to go to the dentist. I wouldn't say anything about the snus right off. Let him examine your mouth and come to conclusions. You could also look in the drug store for some mouth washes that help gums in some way. I don't know of any, but I'm sure there's some out there.

If I brush too hard or haven't flossed in a while, the gums between my teeth will start to bleed. I'm going to agree with lxskllr and guess it's gingivitis. I would recommend using sea salt and warm water to help the gums heal faster. Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up....I will check it out at the dentist for sure....Just scared me as it never happened before....I have been chain snussing (15 potions a day) for quite some time...Probably exacerbated the underlying gum problem....Thanks again, Red

I have been chainsnusing heavily for 1.5 years. There have been times when my gums would get irritated from baking prillas too hard. Never bleeding just sore. I haven't had any problems with soreness for quite a while though. I always switch sides left and right upper. I have not noticed gum recession either, although if I did, I wouldn't necessarily attribute it to using snus.

I agree with the others who said it's probably not the snus since the bleeding is between your teeth. Warm salt water rinses have always been suggested by my dentists for healthy gums, so maybe give that a shot. The mouth heals fast, so I bet you'll get past this soon. Good Luck!

Try Uncle Harry tooth powder. This stuff will restore your gums after a few uses! I also feel that it cleans my teeth much better than toothpaste and you can find it in most natural food stores.

Years of smoking can cause gingivitis, too, so don't think it's only the snus to blame.

My gums occasionally bleed on brushing. My teeth are professionally cleaned so I know there's nothing wrong like gingivitis.
I do think that snus contributes to that as it only started when I began using snus. The bleeding is not in the area where I place my snus and the bleeding is only slight. It's not a problem so I ignore it.
But yeah - smoking causes gingivitis too.
