You're right about the messed up laws, although I thought the fed gov't really trumped all. Basically, the states can make laws more restrictive, but not the other way around. I think that means really that the enforcement is all over the place - I don't really think California and others can actually do what they do, but they're also the enforcers . Although California obviously thinks they CAN do what they do, so who knows... It is pretty messy. I'm not trying to open a discussion on states vs. fed laws because that tends to be a really heated argument - and I don't really have much of an opinion (just restating what I've heard).

Too bad about the high school deal, sounds like you got around it. Did it ever cause problems with college entrance?

California is unique in the fact that pretty much every other state is starting to use us as a guideline when it comes to state laws and regulations. That is obviously a double-edged sword; and most of the time it isn't for the better IMHO. Not to mention the fact that CA has gotten a little "too big for it's britches" by trying to strong-arm the feds on regulation issues such as the EPA, etc.

Just my opinion of course... :wink:

As far as the high school incident, I joined the Navy after I got my diploma...they didn't seem too worried about it.
