I'm fine with it up to a point, and that point hasn't changed since I stopped smoking. A smoky bar's fine, a few people smoking in a room's fine. A ton of people smoking in a room, or in a car with the windows up is irritating.

I quit smoking because my lungs were rebelling against me. Every time I get smoke in my lungs from a smoky room I cough like the dickens. It keeps me out of smoky bars and such.

The smell doesn't bother me and every now and then, I still want one. I refrain because I know the consequences.

Maybe it's the fact that I smoked for so many years, and did it self righteously, I might add. I just can't bitch about others at this point. I still think you should be able to smoke your ass off outdoors, in your own home, and especially in bars. Hell I might join ya for one. I find it very disheartening that so many here are going to judge others for their usage at this point. The same people that are gonna bitch about tobacco nazis infringing on there rights... Sad and weird commentary if you ask me...

I can't speak for everybody, but I'm sure most of the responses here (mine included) are strictly referring to the smell of smoke. I am all for allowing people to smoke even though I don't anymore. That being said, I smoked in my house for years and when I would wake up and/or walk into the house after being out for a while... the smell of stale smoke in the house bothered me then and I was still smoking and the smell was mostly a result of my own smoking. I stopped smoking in my home years ago because of the smell and just spent a lot more time enjoying my front porch and back yard.

I am not, and will not ever allow myself to be one of those ex-smokers that treats smokers like they are doing something wrong. I may recommend snus to be helpful, but not because I want to deny them to their right to smoke when and where they want to.

I don't mind it. I let my brother smoke in the car. I don't really have an urge for one anymore either. I'm just plain done with it. I do get bummed when I wake up in the morning and my clothes smell of it. I never liked that but obviously dealt with it. I'm one of those that can smell it from a car in front of me on the highway. Man, it really is a superpower and I'm glad to have it.

Who is judging others for smoking? We are just talking about the way smoke smells.

Smoke never bothered me unless I was eating and that was true even when I smoked. Now that I don't smoke, smoke still doesn't bother me. I just don't care about smoke, unless I am eating.

I smoked for about ten years, including rolling my own. I switched to smokeless tobaccy when I got married. Occasionally someone will inadvertently blow smoke in my face and then apologize. I always say no need to apologize and thank them. I still love the smell of a cigarette after not smoking for years now. If I make it to about 75 or 80 years of age I think I'll start smoking again, because at that point it won't matter. I love dippin' and snus'n, but I also really loved smokin'. It was my first love.

Yeah, it's kinda like dealin' with a quiet but ferocious fart ... sure takes away the appetite!!

I enjoy the smell a little once in awhile, but if locked in a small space I cant stand it. When I smoked and someone lit up in the car, I had to light one up as well. I found by smoking one myself I noticed the smoke less. Now that I have quit I can hardly stand to be in an enclosed place with a smoker. I just want to smoke one myself.

Since I quit I have a better understanding of why ex smokers were the worst when it came to bitching about cigarette smoke. I can now smell a cigarette 50 feet away, downwind, while standing in front of the manure factory. I am pretty sure the receptors in my brain pick up on the scent much better than if I had never smoked. I still know a lot of smokers, and still let friends smoke in my car, but now I make them roll down a window. It's the first step into ultimately becoming the self righteous smoke nazi I always said I would never be. I refuse to actually bitch at them, or worse yet, tell them how offensive it is, or even worse... give them the ex smoker lecture on quitting. I know for me, those ex smoker "you must quit" lectures are a good portion of the reason I refused to quit. No one tells me what to do dammit.

Can we become self righteous smoke nazis? I don't think I could, because when I am around smokers, which is all the time, my only thought is 'you got your nicotine and I got mine.' It's the ones who quit nicotine totally who seem to be such whiny bitches about smoke. I don't even care if my clothes smell like smoke from hanging with smokers. I just don't care and see no reason why I should.

I have allowed friends to continue to smoke in my car, basement and cabin. At first it did not bother me but now I think I am actually getting nausea and headaches from it.

I didn't like the smoke when I was smoking. I was amazed how quickly I could smell it once I stopped. I used to smoke in my apartment and when I left the walls were streaked with nicotine and everything had to be replaced due to the smell. When I bought my home I decided to keep it fresh and we have not smoked indoors at all. I had the same problem with my car, when I traded it in it reeked of smoking and everything was tinged brown. So now I don't allow anyone to smoke in my car either (the new one).

Of course now my smoking friends accuse me of being a non-smoking nazi but I tell them, "Hey, if you were on a strict diet and missing all your favorite foods, you wouldn't want me to sit in your car eating a pizza in front of you". Consideration works both ways.

I have mostly quit, stayed away from them for a while, however on a weekend occasion I may have one or two, particularly during a set break at a gig.

In my experience the second hand smell of being around smoke is not the problem. It is during the week when I don't smoke and smell it when being close to my wife, that actually stinks to me. She still smokes, granted not much and will use nasal snuff as well (she hates snus, made her naseus, and apparently it juiced on her too much, who knows. Anyway, yeah it is the lingering smoke smell that bothers me.

I don't like the smell of stale smoke like after somebodys had a cig and I don't like a room laden with smoke.

I love the smell of one person actually having a cig or a cigar or a pipe. If I'm gagging for a nicotine hit, the smell will be like the best thing in the world.
I had a cigar tonight - I don't think that the Frosted minis are giving me enough.

                                Back up to 12mg.
